PS2 Screen Shakes While Playing PS1 Games

I have a V4 PS2 that is modded with a Magic 3.1 Chip. Everything works correctly with the Mod Chip. It will boot DVD originals/backups as well as CD originals/backups made for the PS2 or PS1. Sometimes it will take multiple tries to boot, but that is because the PS2 is fairly old and has been heavily played with.

However, whenever it boots PS1 games (original or backup) the screen shakes up and down. This does not occur during the booting process when the PS logo is displayed, but starts when the game is loaded.

Extra useless facts: I am using an RF converter for my PS2 in order to use it on an old TV, and I adjusted the laser height for my PS2 recently. The screen shaking problem started happening before I did this.


Anyone have any ideas? It would be REALLY appreciated!!! I attempted to look up the problem on google but I only found one guy's post on a random forum without any useful replies. That guy had an UNMODIFIED PS2. Thanks a lot everyone!!

what u need to do is take your ps2 to where it was modified and get a mars 5 chip that will easily fix the problem as earlier versions did not support psx1 games,

if he was goin to get a new chip why would he get a mars 5? there are so many better chips out. Flicking screen generally means that its a pal/ntsc issue are your games imports? or are they store bought ones, that you've backed up? and does it play original ps1 games?

I modified it myself... and I don't think I'll be getting a new chip because I don't believe that is the problem. As I pointed out another person on google had the same problem with an UNMODIFIED PS2. This is not to mention that PS2 is also at the end of its life cycle as a console, so it seems kind of pointless to spend more money on it.

No, my games are NOT imports. As I said even ORIGINAL games bought in the USA for my PSX have the screen shaking problem. It isn't really a "flicker" but the video shakes up and down violently about 1 inch or so. Backed up games also have this issue.
