Hey everyone, I have been trying to do the methods stated in both of these topics for my v12 slim PS2:
1)http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/291684 2)http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/320910
However, I have been having a few probems...
1) I start action replay, go to media player, load cdloader.elf from a memory stick, and get to the main screen. In the bottom left corner it says ps2 cd because it detected action replay, it stops spinning, I take it out and put in the cogswaploader cd burnt from a bin and cue made with IC3, and hit X...and then, right away, the outlined red star galaxy screen of doom...
NOTE: I have also tried downloading the bin and cue from http://www.swapmagicfix.com/ of cogswaploader, and the same thing happened but it took a while to get to the outlined red galaxy star screen of doom.
2) Everything works fine, I load cdloader, press triangle to put back the laser, put in an original ps2 dvd game, press triangle to reset the laser, it detects ps2 dvd in the bottom left, and then i hit x...up comes a screen that says "ERROR VALIDATING THE DISC," or something to that effect. I have tried this with all the following games:
-Madden NFL 2005
-DDR Max 2
-DDR Extreme
-Star Wars Battlefront 2
-Call of Duty: Finest Hour
-SSX On Tour
I always burn things on the lowest speed that Nero Burning Rom 7 offers, 4x. I've tried 3 different kinds of media; Fujifilm, Optimum, and Memorex. I have a v12 slim black ps2 with a paper mod I made myself, plays with the top open perfectly.
If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, how I could possibly fix it, or any other possible way to load games in a way similar to those, please let me know. Thank you for your help.

I had the same problem, but figured out a way to load LaunchELF instead, and then load CogSwap Loader through that. I can't remember exactly what I did, but I think I followed the instructions for making an exploit CD like jjax's guide says for the fat PS2, only instead of checking "Yes" in "Installer Only," I checked "No."
Once you have it burned, do what you were trying to do with your old cogswap disk. It should load up LaunchELF, and you will be able to navigate to the CD which should have the cogswap.elf on it.

Lol, just something I came up with by ripping tiny peices of paper and folding them.
Refer to this picture: http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/abc.jpg
Make a little ball to put in sensor a. Make a bit bigger ball to hold back the disk break, b, and make a long thin piece of paper (harder the better, i used Nintendo Power magazine cover, lol...) fold it longwise, and guide it down in the hole with the power on and a disk in, and when it hits the sensor, the disk will start to play so leave it there. It mite take some adjusting. You can't do it with the top closed, however it doesn't require opening your system or buying worthless pieces of plastic, just a bit of patience XD.
