I've searched through the forums, but I haven't yet come across the answer to my question since it appears that what I'm attempting is the least popular method. Does anyone know how to run MLB 06 from the retail UMD using 1.5 firmware? Do I just need to break down and spring for a 2GB to rip and run the ISO? Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but that's the thing... I want to play straight from the UMD, with no ISO. I only have a 512MB MS, so the ISO won't fit. Has anyone tried this or gotten it to work?

I'm in the same boat as Asfan- no big memory card. Got to find someway to do it straight from the UMD.

This isn't working for me. I:
- Copied your ditto copy files to the MS, replacing some of my own copies of some of the same files. Did this at the root level and the /psp/game folder
- Inserted UMD and ran DAXZISO
According to the other thread, I needed to change some of the settings in DAX, but I didn't have the same options as the ones you mentioned. Under emulation mode, all I have are direct load, copy load, mphgl, direct load-loadexec, mphgl-loadexec and runumd-loadexec. I also didn't have Allocate tables in RAM.
I went ahead and tried using direct load and crashed. Then, thinking that I may have already had files on my MS causing problems, I completed wiped my GAME folder, replacing it with yours. Tried again. Same exact results.
After looking at the other thread again, it looks like we may not be referring to the same game. I'm talking about MLB '06: The Show, which is published by SCEA and has David Ortiz on the cover. It looks like you're referring to Major League Baseball 2K6, which is published by 2K Sports (Take Two) and has Derek Jeter on the cover. Whichever is correct, it looks like what you have there, "MLB (Major League Baseball 06)" is a confusing mixture of the names of both games.

So, I just want to make sure that I understand how I'm supposed to be using UMD Emu... I launch the app, then turn emulation mode off. I go to the bottom of the list, where there's no text at all and press X to load the emu, which takes me back to the PSP menu. Then I should just be able to launch MPH gameloader and the UMD should load. If that's correct, that doesn't work for me either. It looks like it might load then crashes.
Are these packages supposed to be totally standalone or am I supposed to already have some other prerequisite files on my MS?
Also, I don't know if it matters, but through all this my MS's icon has changed from the PSP icon I'm used to see from to a generic MS icon to a blank disk image icon (using Mac OS X). I'm gonna reformat it and try again.

You don't turn the emulation mode to off, you set it to "system menu".
This will make you return to the XMB. From there go to Game-->memory stick and start MPHGameloader. Then your game should start. Note: You need a UMD inserted for it to work.
The app with all the text is RunUMD not MPH Game Loader. You can download MPH Game Loader from here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/348
You will also need firmware 2.00 in files format in the MPHGameloader folder. You can find the download here: http://eternal-psp.vze.com/dl.htm

Still crashes. I have all the files where they're supposed to be. I even tried the modified firmware files and the result was the same. What could I be doing wrong? Eternalis, you've gotten MLB 06: The Show working using this method?

No I haven't, but bombayboy got the ISO to work using this method. You might have to dump your UMD.

What are you trying to do? I dont get it, do you want to run ur umd which needs firmware 2.6 to run, or do you want to copy the iso from your UMD and play it...?

I want to do the former. I'm not trying to run the ISO because I only have a 512MB MS, so I'm trying to run the 2.6 UMD on my 1.5 firware.

Incorrect.
You turn emulation mode off and press triangle and then go to mph. That is the correct way to attempt to run a umd off mph. So piece was right...

So, IF The Show works from UMD, which is apparently a big 'if' since I can't seem to find anyone who has actually done this successfully, I'd need:
- UMD emu + MPHGL bundle from Pieceful's link: http://rapidshare.de/files/18370734/PSPDBZFix.rar.html - 2.0 files? or the modified 2.0 firmware? from http://eternal-psp.vze.com/dl.htm
I should have the UMD in the drive, load UMD emu, don't change any other settings than to turn emulation mode off, scroll to the bottom of the menus, hit triangle, NOT X to take me back to the XMB, then launch MPHGL, which SHOULD load the game?

correct if mph doesnt work,
you can try runumd(which i think u said doesnt work)
or genesis umd http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/408
and if not, im sorry, your other option is to play it as an iso

OK, so I finally broke down and got a 2GB MS so I can just do this the "easy" way. I installed DAX dumper and now I just want to make sure I rip the UMD correctly.
Dump to: ms0:/ISO
Format: ???
Compression level: 6?
Split size: No split
I'm not sure which format I need to use since I'll have to replace the PRX files. I'm also not sure how much the compression level matters.

The compression level sets how small the game will be.
as for format, choose dax or iso.
I would use iso right now and maybe set the compression to none, just for the sake of the prxs and swapping and then dax it after(you can always do that).
If you have a 2gb card that is pretty empty then yes you can choose no split.
