Swap Magic kicks me to Browser

Hey, all, new to the Swap Magic scene. I have a fat ps2, Swap Magic 3.6 and a slide card. I'm trying to get the copy I made of my friend's Narutimate Hero 3 import (Verbatim 8x DVD-R) run on my ps2 and for whatever reason Swap Magic dumps me to the PS2 browser (memory card manager, ps2, cd, dvd browser). I created my copy of the game with DVD Decrypter.

Am I doing something wrong? I used what I read was the right media, I have the right tools. Suggestions?

Setting the laser to diagnostic mode fixes it. I guess that means the laser is on its way out?
