I wasn't sure where to put this, but here goes...

Do you think a partition with the sole purpose of burning DVD's would improve their quality? I would only have a few programs like Nero and DVD Decrypter so that my computer's resources will be nearly dedicated to the burn...

Opinions?

greetings friend! i would suggest using dvd fab decrypter to rip your dvds it handles all of the new protections, plus it is a little faster than DVD Decrypter, next run all the VOB files through VOB blanker, a free program that can be found on the afterdawn site. you can use this program to strip out all of the unwanted garbage in your VOB files.doing this allows you to decrease the amount of compression needed to fit the files on a 4.7 gig disc. i use DVD Shrink almost exclusively to re-encode and compress my back-ups.i as well as my friends and family cannot tell the difference from the original! the last suggestion i have is not to use cheap media!!!!! spend the extra money for good discs! i use verbatim 16x media exclusively and have yet to make a Coaster with it.for burning your back-up use image burn, free program that can also be found on the afterdawn site.last but not least set your burn speed no higher than 8x.hope this helps you. peace!
