Mastery Level Skill Score

Novice 0-24
Apprentice 25-49
Journeyman 50-74
Expert 75-99
Master 100

Increase your skill score by using that skill repeatedly or by purchasing training from numerous NPC's around the game.

These numbers are in the small booklet that came with the game - the one inside the game case. Read the section on Skills. Tell me what skills you want to level up and maybe I can tell you where to buy training.

Adding powers into items is called Enchanting. This is done by two methods: (1) using the Altar of Enchantment at the Arcane University, and (2) using a Sigil Stone that you recover from Oblivion. When you enchant a weapon the magic effect will be cast when you use that weapon. When you enchant armor the effect is constant. Enchanted weapons have a set number of charges depending on the source of the charge. When the charges run out they need to be recharged to regain the magic effect.

I have a problem with my Illusion skill. I got it up to 51, so I could learn chameleon, for my sneaking and such; but upon reaching 51 and buying the skill, i cannot use it. The game says I have to have skill of 50 to use, so I dont know why. It says my skill is too low. And now im rather upset. Can anyone help me?

Jack,

the only thing I can think of is that you are not a true level 50 for that skill. If you are wearing armor that fortifies your skill by a few levels then you are not a true level 50. If you check your skill and it's in green then it's boosted in some way. When you did get your level 50 did you get an extra message telling you that you are now a journeyman??

I think karupt_kw is correct.

I had the same problem with one of my restoration skills and I realized that one of the things I was wearing had fortify effects. Try removing any articles with fortify effects and see what skill level you have for illusion.

You prob mean enchanting

I dont feel like typing it all so ill just quote dblbogey

Enchanted weapons have a set number of charges depending on the source of the charge. When the charges run out they need to be recharged to regain the magic effect.
Also to enchant anything you will need to have the spell, and be able to use, therefore if you skill isnt high enough you wont be able to use that spell to enchant the armor or weapon. An easy way to avoid this is to buy to lowest level spell, it doesnt matter if you use a weaker spell to enchant , it will still give u the same ability to your armor.

Another thing you will need to enchant are Soul Gems the bigger the soul gem the more you will get from the enchant. The biggest soul gem is a Grand Soul gem but remember you will also need to capture a grand soul in it to get its full potential. You may also use Sigil Stones, the ones you take out of Oblivion gates. These are cool cause you dont even have to be at an enchanting alter and they have special abilities built into them, when you take it out it has a random ability such as feather, chameleon etc... which will actually enchat your item with a greater feather, chameleon or other then you would normally get with a grand soul gem.

An easy way to get the Sigil Stone you need is to save right b4 you pull it out and the grab it, if you get what u want keep playing, if not, load and redo until you get what you want.

If you have anymore questions post here or message me.
