this is what happened, i was playing madden online and in the middle of the game it kicked me off and wouldnt sign back in so i turned off the ps2 and for some reason when i turn it on with the memory card in it nothing will happen at all but when i open the lid the ps2 browser screen comes up. when i turn it on with out the memory card in it will go to the browser screen but it wont do anything. when i go into the browser it will say reading disc and it will say tht for as long as its on and for some reason when i stick in the memory card when its in the browser it wont come up. can someone give me a suggestion or is it toast?
I can't think of a normal reason why a new PS2 slim should do that. If it's still under warranty, you should get it checked out or replaced from where it was bought.
What's your version of the slim? If it's a Version 12, my guess is that your laser has burnt out(unless you have a laser fix). About the Memory Card, I have no idea about that.

depending on how long you have had it. If it's only been a few months, the laser shouldn't be worn out unless you leave it on day and night (but then it would probably overheat after a few hrs). sounds like something is fried deep inside, looks like you dont have much of a choice but to find a replacement. (oh and the next one you get, consider an extended warranty)
