@1martini
Make sure you are using the latest AnyDVD - 5.9.5.6. AnyDVD handles anything out there right now.
It also has a ripper - have you tried that?
What error are your receiving?

The latest version of AnyDVD is 5.9.6.0. That should work.

I am using the lates AnyDVD - 5.9.6.0!

The error message is << DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read file "G:\". Data error (cyclic redundancy check).>>

The disc is pretty scratched up. I'm wondering if it could be the cause?

Yep sounds like that may be the case.
Try cleaning it off or buffing out the scratches w/ something non abrasive.
If you have another drive try it.
You can also try ripping with DVD Decrypter - can be a great ripper for these types of discs - just depends on how bad it is.
Here's a link for decrypter if needed:

If all fails exchange it for a new one.

As I mentioned in my initial post...I also used DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD along with dvdshrink and was encountering this error. I'm thinking that it may be because of a badly scratched disc. I'll try your suggestions.

Guess I'm finally losing it :0)
Check your settings in Decrypter when running AnyDVD:
In the I/O tab under interface: SPTI or ElbyCDIO should be checked.
Set CSS Cracking method to none in the CSS tab. Disable checking for structure protection in general tab.
But yes the reason you receiving this error is due to the condition of the disc.

Could try DVD FabDecrypter and see if it is able to work around the errors and scratches but if it's that bad it may be of no help either..

Worth a shot though
