I have just tried to burn Ten DVDs using Verbatim Inkjet Printable Media from a block of fifty I bought today,well low and behold!!!50%of them had CRC Errors which shocked me as I always thought, from what I had read ,that these where the proverbial "Bees Knees".
The Irony is, over the weekend I was burning with Verbatims Data Life Plus, which use the Propriety Metal Azo Dye and got ten out of ten...all perfect??Is the Inkjet Printable Verb Azo Dye???I believe it may not be??,I notice that the Printable "Verb" Media gives a limited warranty and not a life time one, as the Data Plus Range do.
Has anyone got any ideas why this has happened or have they perhaps had a similar experience with "Verbs"

Interesting... I have used two types of inkjet printable Verbs:

One type was the non-hub printables with AZO and they burned fine (Sam's Club).

The other discs were the hub printable datalifeplus, and they burned fine as well (NewEgg).

I prefer the hub printable, so, I always reinvest in those. Is it possible the "none datalife" media you bought was 16X (versus 8X for the DLP) and your firmware is not up to date (I am grasping at straws here)? OR, it could just be a "bad batch." Look for any imperfections on the recording side...

Verbs have always performed near flawlessly for me as have Taiyo Yuden!

OK. I have also heard some not-so-good things about Samsung... I use LiteOn, LG, and Pioneer in my setup... All of them LOVE Verbs!!!

From what I gather, Verb Inkjet Printables do not use the Azo Metallic Dye like the Data Life Pluses do...
I just love Printing them printable to as I have Good Printer that makes it so so easy..
I am a lil disappointed as they are not the cheapest media down here in New Zealand at about 0.60US each...
It may be Taiyos next time..

Hi dannykiwi

I had similar probs with a Samsung drive, it started out ok then I started making lots of coasters, even with uptodate firmware. I got myself a Pioneer 110 and its worked perfect for me, not a Coaster yet.

It's even allowed me to step away from Verbs and TY's and move to less expensive media such as Riteks which eneded up paying for the drive with the cash i was saving.

Good luck in sorting it

These appear to be old stock from 2004,before they started adding the Data Life Plus on their packaging..
It may be my Burner its a Samsung TS-H522U burns perfectly for CDs and DVD Photos and the likes but I only have the problem with DVD Videos..

At first I wasn't impressed with them either, but it wasn't until I got my new burner...it's a Lite-On. Now they seem to give me similiar if not better quality scores than TYs. The ones I use are the DVD+R 16x with advanced AZO, I burn em at 8x.

Burned at 8x, and was booktyped...

I don't see an AZO symbol on the 50 pack I just bought. Does that mean mine are'nt?

They are Verbatim 16X DVD+R discs. Are they still good? Thanks.

@aabbccdd,

Thank you, I did'nt know because I see that the color is still a slight purple although lighter then others I've had in the past.

It's wierd because all of my original DVDS are silver in color.

@dannykiwi

It sounds like it could be your burner.....

I've used regular Verb's(non-printable)

& the full hub printable DataLifePlus w/ excellent results.

I'm using a Plextor 716A DL writer.

After trying a 50pk of 16x dvd-r verb's i can say they're ok but they wouldnt play properly on some of my friend's stand alone players...i know everyone here likes them but i have since switched back to Ritek media which never gives me any problems.

When everyone says no trouble with their
Media..what sort of tests do they run on the Burn??do they check for CRC Errors??Do they check for Jitters??
Before I even let mine near a standalone DVD Player, I do a surface Scan with Nero or a Scan with DVD Info Pro..
Sue they all burn all right and in a good time too but its the Error Checking that picks up my bad burns,how many of you Error Check?

The only and best test I perform is I watch the backup in it's entirety on my set top player. If any playback problems are experienced I would then perform a scan or two but no need since they playback flawless. The Nero disc quality scans I have ran have all been in the upper 90's.
