I am willing to write my own firmware which I do not think will be easy at all...nor will it be fast...

1. It sounds easy so someone please tell me why it is harder...

2. To start creating it, do I need to learn C++ (only) or many other programs as well??
__________

My goal here is to trick the psp into thinking my creation will be an upgrade which it kind of will be but my firmware will support homebrew and etc... as well as some applications of my own (if I am not too tired to make them)

To get started I will read C++ for dummies then go on to more professional books...once I have completed the learning part of the job...is anyone willing to work with me?!

P.S.
I need a lot of details for this matter because I AM SERIOUS in getting this started!! How long should it take to complete approx (my firmware)????

By the way, when I say MY FIRMWARE, I will change that to OUR FIRMWARE (that is if anyone chooses to work with me...)

I will get ebooks (pdf and html) and I need to know if the ereader (ebook reader for psp) will work on v 2.50... (I need the gta lcs umd and gta eloader right?)

Thx, in advance

If I insult you...don't get offended...my insults are "friendly insults"...I know this sounds stupid (ridiculous) but I am fet up of writing, "no offense" in my posts...

Don't do anything.

Even if you ever created you own firmware you still can't put it because in order for anything to write on the flash of the psp it has to be an official program. Sony signs all the games and anything that writes to the flash. If you create your firmware the psp will check for the key(code, or special password) and then you will be able to write your own firmware on the psp. If it doesn't find the codes or key it will just ignore it.

Only Sony has those special programs to make the games or anything that writes to your psp memory official.

So don't do anything.

well buddy, keep at it. C++ is a great programing language to learn. There are people who go to college for years to get good at it though. While I'm not discouraging you in your efforts, I would suggest that you look into some college courses for that. That would be no overnight process I'm afraid but good luck anyway.

Yes, what Kafluke said is right.

If you want to know how to do all that for yourself that is good. If you want to do it because you have nothing better to do then don't do anything.

I will be willing to work. I am to learning stuff like that. html for webpages , ebooks so I can sell them, and many other things.

I am 14, so I am far from college but I won't give up....is there anything that I can work on to be able to do virtually everything I want on my psp (and you guys too)? Should I work on a downgrader to 1.5 instead?? How long should it take me to know at least 90% of C++? (just bcuz I am 14, doesnt mean I'm an idiot....think of me as a 20 year old...how long should it take??)

Well im not pretty sure where to start to learn c++ but if you want to know about that stuff try searching in google for lessons.

You can make games in Lua and learn something about it. I had visited this website where they teach you about Lua language and basic stuff about it. If your interested I will find the website for you.

Okay I found the website

evilmana.com

go to the link where it says tutorials

after that you have a link for psp lua language programming for begginers click on it.

After that there are the tutorials and should be read exactly as mention in the website.

If you have any more questions just ask.

also some people use lua language to make homebrew.

But it is better to know C++ first because i think you can use that for other systems(im not sure).

But lua language is just for psp

Your best bet with making your own FW would be to make a Shell... Since this is the closest thing you will ever find to a Homebrew FW... There are already plenty of Shells availible to download at pspupdates.qj.net they have a ton of shells to download, or www.psp-hacks.com, look in their Shells section of downloads, since you are thinking of making your own FW or Shell I wish you luck on your Journey to Frustration, Head Aches, and Restless Nights...
