Just wondering if n e one herd of a modchip for psp 2.6 since it cant be downgraded yet. i think it would be easier just to make a modchip instead of trying to hack sony's firmware everytime they comeout with an update. soon all new psp will wont be able to run on 1.5 just as gta. so if n e one has herd n e thing along those lines lemme know.

It would be a good idea but at the moment all the hacking is software based, and plus there arent any umd reader/writers so having have modchip would be useless..

I have already checking into this myself and It seems that at this moment there seems to be a mod Team that claims they have made a mod chip. Most of us found that to be completly untrue. I myself have investigated this and it is completly a rumor that they made one. Since the picture is completly blurred to where you cant see, and that it does not give any description of what it does, where it goes, how it does it. Since there is no hardware to this day that allows the ability to read and write UMDs I dont think there will be one for a while. Since most people are intrested in making software for it.

A modchip would not be useless if it allowed you to run homebrew from the Game-->Memory Stick menu and allows you to run kernel mode apps on firmware 2.00+.

what i mean is.... a modchip should be made to enable u to load iso's and homebrew which would be very useful indeed. but i c there is none yet. i'll keep hoping and praying, but im not buying a psp till im sure i can get games for free cuz i dont got dat kinda money.

Its only piracy when you use ISOs of games you don't own. You can use ISOs legally to reduce load times of games.

there was talk of modchips in the early days but i think that project died, simply because its not a good idea, why would anyone want to put a chip into the psp when they can play the homebrew/isos without any chips on a 1.5.
So what they came up with was motherboard swaps, eg if you own a 2.01+ psp then you could get your motherboard swapped for a 1.5 psp motherboard.
No mod chips and full homebrew.
Sometimes to keep things peaceful you need a Piece thats Full

even if a modchip was made im sure sony would just make some kind of security upgrade so the psp will just become completely worthless and people will bhe frustrated that they cant upgrade because they will not be able 2 play newer games even umds as im sure eventually sony (seem very persistant) will find a way of crating umds that CSN NOT be loaded via any alternatives then correct firmware

I dont think that would possible to secretly install a Update that would not allow you to use your PSP. Since a Mod chip will let you do anything that the PSP can normally do, but more. You have the right idea there tough, I do not believe that the PSP would have the kind of compatability to use a modchip.
I am so tired and just felt like rambling on about something that some relevancy to the subject.
So please dont start getting mad at me. Spent the last few days without sleep. I have been making a Homebrew game for PSP's and its coded in C++ so I am constantly finding errors in my code...

I prefer software based chipping, i guess you can still have a better chance of keeping your warrenty, wheras a mod chip would require the opening of the psp itself. (some dnt but im guessing it would).

I would chip my psp if that was true. As I would update to 2.7 and have all hombrew and maybe the modchip will allow direct boot of the ISO from the Game section. But since there was already hombrew on 1.5 for psp, the devolepor's never bothered to make a modchip as there is no point which is what they think. OR it is to small to fit a modchip on a PSP :P
