I recently tried to make a backup of Fun with Dick and Jane using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter and both of them had errors in the process(dident say anything about copy protection) Well I figured it dident work because that movie basicly just came out so maybe the protection on it is to good. Well today I tried burning Pirate of the Caribiean and that dident work either. Same error messages. So I thought maybe my burner broke or something so I tried another DVD that I backed up already and It worked fine.
The error message for DVD Shrink is "DVD Shrink has encountered an error and can not continue, Failed to read file E:\, Data error(cyclic redundancy check". and it always stops at 51%-53% before the message comes up.

I did get an error with DVD Shrink. Here it is...
DVD Shrink has encountered an error and can not continue
Failed to read file E:\
Data error(cyclic redundancy check)
Yet I put in an really old DVD and it works fine. It has to be the copy protection
Also, Im trying to use DVDFab now and It has been stuck on the same spot for like 4 mins.

Sounds like a bad disc, make sure it is free of scratches and dirt...if so it may be a bad press. Is there another drive you could try ripping it with?

oOApEx,
Try ripping the MOVIE ONLY with DVDFab to hard drive the open up the folder with Shrink and see what happens, I was successful in backing up Fun With Dick And Jane this way....don't waste your time with all the menus and behind the scenes footage.....

I already tried burning just the menus in DVD Decrypter. Still dident work. How do I just burn the Movie alone in DVDFab? I see that little bullseye thing next to complete movie, but I dont know what to do with it.

You don't burn just the movie with DVDFab or DVDD, use reauthor mode in DVD Shrink to remove the menus and special feature...when you put the movie in your drive it will start at the beginning of the film.

You have an option to rip the complete disk or just the main movie to your hard drive. Damn, I have the Platinum version so I'm guessing the regular version of DVDFab doesn't have this option, sorry about that..

This DVD has the Sony Arccos protection and lots of bad sectors, it's impossible to get this movie to analyse to 100 percent with just DVD Shrink. Read the guide that I have given you and find the right combination, it's on there you just have to read it!! You also need to run the latest version of AnyDvd in the background, maybe you'll be lucky to get Shrink to read the disk all the way through the analysis portion without any errors, even then your still going to have chapters that blackout because to those bad sectors.. ALkohol has an excellent guide on how to remove the bad sectors with VOBBlanker.. I was lucky that my version of DVDFab Platinum "2.9.7.3" has two copy mode options, complete disk or main movie.. I choose to rip the main movie only to the hd then I used shrink and burned with Nero, that was the right combo for me.... Anyways good luck with that.........

Correct,The icon on the taskbar means that AnyDvd is running, you can configure it to run on startup if you like.. when you finish with that run DVD Shrink and see if you still get any crc errors. Let DVD Shrink do the analysis of Fun With Dick And Jane and hopefully it won't get stuck before it reaches 100 percent
