slimline ps2 cant read dvd films

i brought a ps2 from ebay, after my old one would not power up, i got a slimline now and it runs dvd games fine and blue kind, but went i put a dvd in it just says reading disc in browser and nothing comes up.

also sometime get play haulted due to manfuntion

please help out

Did you buy a new or second hand PS2? It sounds like some sort of laser problem...

it says as new,but must be second hand cant watch any films the dvd was a orginal i try all my dvds, everytime the error comes up

It sounds like a laser problem, because the slim PS2 reads DVDs better than the old PS2, so if your PS2 can't read the discs (assuming there's nothing wrong with the discs) and if the game play haults sometimes, it's a sign that your laser is dying.

Try cleaning the lens, and if that doesn't help then you'll probably have to look into getting a new laser...

okay, what could i use to clean the laser would a cottenbud do with some alcohol, which should i use?

also do you think sony would repair it, as i checked other version of slim have this problem?

Just a clean cloth, or you could try those CD/DVD lens cleaning fluid things, I wouldn't use the disc for those things though, I think they tend to scratch the lens

Assuming its under warranty, and assuming you don't have a modchip for the PS2, they should fix it
