ok im new to the whole ps2 modding thing but this is my setup.

1. ps2
2. swapmagic 3.6
3. slidecard pro

this is what i did.
1. i have final fantasy x, but it has this one scratch that wont let it load. so i downloaded it from a torrent.
2. i got a rar file, so i extracted it and got an iso image.
3. i then extracted the iso and put it on a dvd-rw
4. used it with swapmagic and swap keeps saying its not a valid ps2 disc.
5. so then i dont extract the iso, and i just burn it right on, i got the same error.

I used dvd decryptor to burn it and i also tried it with sonic record now. is it possible my swap magic is screwed up? i just bought it 2 days ago and it is compatible with my ps2, or atleast according to the sites i see. thanks in advanced

1. once you get the ISO that is what you burn, you do not extract it once it is in ISO format. You burn the image with DVD Decrypter

2. you should not use DVD-RW, most games will not work on them. Get a good quality DVD-R instead. If you do not know what i mean by good quality then search the threads here as there are many on good media to use for backing up games.

Try the DVD-R and see if they work, if not back up another game or two and see if they play. If you get good media and read the guides here and they still do not work then the only way to know if your Swap Magic is no good is to try it with a friend who loads back ups this way. If it loads on his then it is OK.

I would stay away from memorex almost everyone I know doesn't get good results with them. either decrypter or record now will work fine as long as you burn the iso as an image and not extract it any further.

ok this is what i did now and i still got some problems.

1. i extracted the rar and got an iso.
2. i opened dvd decrpyter and put
mode:write
speed: 2
3. i burned it to a dvd-r
4. then when it was done i started up swapmagic 3.6 dvd cd.
5. i hit eject and it says "insert larger toc" or something
6. i put in ace combat fighter 5 since that was bigger in size of the actual iso
7. then it was like refresh, so i used the special card thing and while i do that swap magic said "insert your backup disc". i put in the dvd i burned and tried it with:
normal (normal, special)
ntsc (normal, special)

and still got "not a valid ps2 disc"

do u actually need the original final fantasy x disc? i have it but the scratch wont let it load ne thing :(

i hope all that makes sense. thanks

you do not press eject when swapping discs. that is what resets the PS2.

If you have an older version you use either a fliptop case or slidecard to open the drawer and put in the back up, then press X so it starts.

ok sweet i got it to work, this is what i did.
1. i tried burning the image to a DVD-RW (i messed up so much i ran out of DVD-R lol)
2. i started swap disc, i hit eject and it was like refresh toc.
3. i put in ace combat fighter 5
4. then it told me to put in my cd.
5. i used slide card and put in the dvd-rw
6. a red blip came up and it started to work:)
7. when i got to the menu and hit new game it just started making tons of clicking noises and froze.
8. and now i cant get it to even start up ne more.
what should i do? thanks alot to everyone helping, im making progress, even if it is a lil bit at a time.

what you should do is try the exact same thing with a DVD-R since most system/lasers have problems reading rw.

ok, not to be mean or anything. But what part of my above post do you not understand?
DO NOT PRESS EJECT!

1. put in swap magic
2. when it asks for a disc use slidecard to move the pin and open the DVD drawer manually and swap out for back up
3. use slidecard again to move pin back and lock the DVD drawer
4. press X and load game.

It says refresh TOC because it is resetting when you press eject. This is the whole reason you have to use a slidecard or fliptop instead to swap the discs. You are making this process way to hard on yourself.
