I recently read an article about piracy, and was curious if, just for being an afterdwan member, I could be accused or charged with piracy.

I know the software is out there for anyone, it's "what you do with it" that is controversial, or questionable. I know everyone here is just backing up their already purchased movies, but how do you clean up your trail afterwards, just to avoid trouble?

Well for being an afterdawn member no...for actual piracy yes. These forums are to help people make BACK-UPS of movies they already OWN.

Cleaning up your trail? you don't need to because you own the movie its not illegal...

Actually it would depend on what country you live in as to whether or not backing up movies, owned or not, is legal. I don't know of any lawyers at AD, so legal advice is not going to come easy.

I have often wondered, what is the difference in copying a DVD and recording a movie with a dvd recorder or vcr off of broadcast television?
