I have a question, but I also wanted to introduce myself to everyone. The question may have been answered, but I don't have time to go through each page of threads.

There are two parts to my question:

1st. part:I need to convert xvid to .vob. I think I can figure that part out.

2nd. part:I need to then take the .vob files and shrink them so I can fit it all on to one DVD.

I want to know if it will make a difference if I try to shrink the .vob files that used to be the xvid files compared to shrinking original .vob files?

Also, are there any links to show me how to complete all of these steps? Thanks in advance!

Convert to DVD compliant files and then use DVD Shrink on the results.

Choices for conversion:
NeroVision, part of the Nero suite of programs (free trial)
DVD Copy 4 (free trial)
TMPGXpress (free trial)
ConvertXtoDVD
DivXtoDVD

Thanks for all the info. I've tried DVDSanta and it either leaves a watermark or it only converts 5 min. of the file. Do you know of one that lets you convert the whole file seamlessly? Thanks.

NeroVision used to be fully fiunctioning in the trial version. I assume it still is. DVD Copy 4 is fully functioning and has a single file option. The others I don't have at hand at the moment.

Thanks, and like I said I am a noob, so what do you mean by single file option?

I misunderstood a previous post.

DVD Copy 4 is probably the easiest to use.
There's a guide for NeroVision though.

Your choice. :)

You could also buy DVD Santa....The full version won't leave a watermark and does more than five minutes...

(If I'm not mistaken, AVI2DVD will also convert XviD to VOB, after which DVDShrink will compress it to fit on a DVD5.

ConvertXtoDVD does the conversion and encodes to either DVD5 or DVD9 and burns the output. It's not free and the video output is marked. You do get to see how the app works though to see if you want to purchase. I have both Nero Vision 7 and ConvertXtoDVD and like both. BTW, ConvertXtoDVD is the updated version of DivXtoDVD.
