Papakevin, I was out of town for a few days. Open the loader and select the APP file. That should allow you to also select the factory bin file within the loader. Then try the procedure I explained before.

Thanks for getting back with me Jerry . I hope you were somewhere warm enjoying a vacation!

Sorry to be a pest, but here do I get the APP file to download for the 3500S? The only file that came with the loader program I downloaded from Pansat was a Pansat 3500S.api file. Is this what I'm looking for? It was in a .zip document with the channel editor and the GT Rom loader.

Thanks again.

Check what you have against this download link. There should be a channel editor, a loader and the factory bin file. This link shows the bin numbered 122 api bin.

Hey Jerry

My Pansat 3500s is working fine thanks to your help.I have a little beef with my unit. It doesn' keep the EPG in memory and every time I turn on the receiver it has to download the EPG. Is there a fix for this? Also it loses 10 minutes a day on the internal clock and I have to keep resetting it.

Got any advice

Your #1 fan

Thanks

Some of the minor bugs and issues that BL was going to fix were the time keeping issue and a better EPG. However before everything could be fixed properly, we got hit with that last big ECM that turned all the channels off. Therefore all efforts became directed to getting the main problem fixed first and then the minor problems later. You know the rest from our present condition.

They are starting with the new round of encryption today. Expect to see channels slowly go back out as before. I guess our free time period is over.

Al7bar is back up and running but Future is still down. They are just upgrading servers and its taking longer than they expected.

All channels are down again because of the new encryption. We are back to waiting on a new bin file from Blacklist. Even the Viewsats are down and waiting. I have read that the Coolsats with the auxed cards are working with a new bin installed. Changing keys won't help get the PPV and other pay channels.

hey Jerry does this also mean that the BEV System is down too and we can't watch it? I don't have my Pansat 3500s hooked up for the BEV, do I need a second dish outside my house? Does this dish point in a differenet direction

Thanks

@CPK2006, bev started using the new encryption before DN but both are down for most receivers. Viewsat just released the new fix a few minutes ago and is back up and running with all channels open. We can only hope Blacklist is still working on the pansat fix and comes through this time. If you want the BEV system you will need to re-aim your dish or install a second one. It slightly different.

@crazy187--no new Pansat files yet. hard to get any information because the BL site has been down for a server upgrade. I guess if he writes a file he could post it at Al7bar which is the sister site for FutureFTA.

Hi jerry, just a simple question/thought...as memory serves me (or sometimes doesn't) pansat never released a file to straighten out the summer ecm. Only coolsat and a few others did, only the fact that everything open up did we get a week of reprieve. Now that its down again, we are back and waiting for a file that never really came, wht do you think?

Hey Jerry

Since I am still a NEWBIE, it sounds like I should buy a second receiver. It seems to be that the Pansat is the last one to be go to go. I see that the Viewsat is working and fully open.
1) Do you recommend buying a second receiver?
2) If so what brand do your recommend?
3) Should I buy a FTA or a carded receiver
4) I guess the advantage of a second receier is that I will not have a second receiver for a second TV.

Please advise
CPK

Thanks

@dodger18, You are correct. The summer ECM was never fixed for Pansats. We just got a few weeks of free TV because they dropped the encryption in prepartion for this ECM that just started. Everyone hopes That Blacklist will crack this encryption before they change it again.

@CPK2006,I bought a second receiver about 3 weeks into the summer ECM. I got the Viewsat Platinum which is the cheaper of the 2 models at around $150. with shipping. Viewsat also came out with a model with slightly less features called the Viewsat Lite at around $130. Its supposed to work well also. My Viewsat works great and this last problem was fixed in around 3 or 4 days. I got all channels back Saturday night around 11:00PM. I still have the Pansat with hopes that a fix will show up for it. To buy a new Coolsat and card setup will cost you around $550.

Does your Viewsat Platinum sort the EPG by genre? While I like my Pansat I was never happy with it's EPG menu. I like being able to sort what I want to watch by genre. It is easier to find sports, movies or kids programs.

If I understand what you are saying the Viewsat Platinum is easier to crack and that is why you have TV. Can you watch VOD or pay per view sports?

Thanks

I think I remember seeing that SORT option somewhere in the menu. I'm at work and can't check right now. It wasn't that the Viewsats were easier to crack, they just got the proper information first and managed to make it work before any other brand receiver. Yes---ALL channels are working on the Viewsats. PPV,VOD,Sports, everything.

Thanks! I live in Canada and with the lastest crack down on retailers of dishes, they can only sell them NOT programmed. I need to program the viewsat once I get it. Is it as easy as programming my Pansat

Thanks

Programming is almost the same as Pansats. Open loader---select proper file---click the PC to STB button and then turn on receiver. It does the rest.

Jerry -- If i buy a standard viewsat, is there anything I need to do to it first before programming it...ie soldering, wiring, etc...I'm just curious, i paid a lot of money for my pansat 3500 SD and am a little pieved that all i had to do was load a bin to get it programmed. I could have easily done that myself, i thought there was some more heavy duty moding that had to be implemented to open all of the channels.

Hey Jerry

I took your advice and bought a Viewsat Extreme. It cost me $20 over the Platium so I said what the heck. I didn't like the light since it doesn't have the SD card slot. I found it easy to program the Pansat 3500sd with the SD card.

Should I now regiser for the Viewsat forums to get the bin files etc? What can you recommend to join? Do you give advice on these forums as well?

Thanks

Hey everyone, I am new to FTA, so I am not familiar with this. I owe a pansat 3500s but I can't put it to work. Recently, I loaded the latest 3500 bin to my receiver but it doesn't give me the option to scroll down to parental control to take me into the CAS system menu to enter the new keys. Both parental control and channel edit are black with no option to access them. Can anyone help me? I hope I could explain my problem.

@CPK2006, These are the 2 forums that seem to support Viewsat the most.

http://www.totalfta.com.
http://www.hashhu.com.

I registered twice at Total but never received the last conformation e-mail so I can read and download but can't post there. I kind of like Hashhu somewhat better anyway. Once files are released for any brand receiver, they usually show up on every forum in time. I don't post much on any fta forum, I just usually read alot.

@crowbar91, No exact time frame on the Pansat fix, but a good bit of the programming needed has been released now so hopefully not much longer.

@shak4031, Viewsat programming about the same as the Pansat 3500. Very easy---no soldering or modification needed. Just load the file by computer.

@cadu1974, try to enter 8282 with your remote. That should take you to the cas menu. You need to scan the channels and have some in there before you can access the other options like parental control and channel edit.
