I found a way to partially boot psp snes on a 2.6 without kxploit or gta. normally it wouldnt let you get past the "this data is corrupted" message but through a method which i wont yet release ive managed to get it partially working. My question is this: is there a way to compile prx and other files into data.psar form? If someone can give me a tool i can try to produce publically available versions of iso's and emu's that will boot as they would on a 1.0. I believe there is always a security gap or method when it comes to these things. once i can get the psp to believe 100% that the game is a "sony approved" game. then firmware has been circumvented and anything will run on any firmware.

Any tech help would be appreciated

Thanks

Mike

Hard to believe, but how far did you get the SNES emu to work?

I know of a PSAR dumper but not a PSAR maker, maybe you can reverse engineer the source to make a program that will make PSAR files.

They've tried this over on PSPUpdates and it amounted to nothing in the end.

Basically i decompiled dynasty warriors umd and using some of the files in the umd i got the psp to boot into snes partially and then it crashed repeatedly when i retried game-boot

eboot contents:

dynasty warriors sfo
-edited the "category" in the sfo to "MG" from "UG" (UG=UMD GAME, MG=MEMORY STICK GAME or something)
-data.psp from snes9x
-missing Data.psar, this is the reason for the failed security check
-snd0.at3 from dynasty warriors umd
-icon0.png from original snes eboot

i compiled these things into a eboot which i still am working on and when you boot the game out of 1 folder in the game folder not the kxploit thing where there are 2 folders it will go to the white psp screen and then to a black screen. finally it crashes back to the psp menu with a 80020148 error. this error means a missing data.psar or unrecognized/unsupported prx files. i remember there used to be an action replay mem stick with a psp app on it and it was bootable. if i can get a hold of an iso of the action replay for psp i can use the data.psar for editing and boot purposes since the data.psar in updates doesnt work.

I am determined to get this working and will keep you posted.

Suh-weet. Keep trying to get that working. I would help but I know nothing about programming or anything for the PSP.

I discovered an ELF to PBP converter. Maybe it generates a PSAR file?

I recently got my hands on a sony produced homebrew which boots off the memstick as it would on a 1.0. To my surpise there is no data.psar in the homebrew, only a data.psp. once im done decompiling the code in the eboot i can try to replicate the process used to make it. If anyone has the codewarrior dev kit, send me a pm becuase i could really use it.

will keep you posted
