ok heres the thing.. im buyin a computer from a friend for cheap cuz his computer messed up.. it turns on its windows xp but the thing is that it has too many viruses n it keeps on freezing everytime he tries to open a program... so im wondering, if i buy it n buy a windows xp cd for it... can i install windows xp on it n have it good as new?.. and another thing, if the cd stops for sum reason durin the process and an error.. wut can i do to fix it? cant i jus buy a new motherboard for it n then install windows xp..? idk but i need help cuz i wanna buy it b4 anyone else does..

Get another XP disc with a serial, format and re-install windows and it should be good as new.

Boot up windows with the windows disc in the drive and it will come up with a menu with selectable options.

Edit : Sorry, I got mixed up, I was answeing a thread about PS2 harddrives, got mixed up lol.

oh aight i got chu, i done dat b4... but c i also got another computer myself datz down but wut happen is dat when i try doin that an error comes up durin the process of formating... therefore i cant use tha computer.. i actually got 3 HDDs right now... one on this computer n two that came from two computers that messed up.. i formated one of them n tried puttin windows but even after it was formated it still aint work...daz y im confused.. i mean when i have a computer n it messes up, cant i jus go to the store n get me a new HDD n then itll be like new again after installin windows?.. cuz in that case ill be better off buyin me a HDD rather than buyin the computer..

Yeah, you can just buy a new HDD and fit it in the install Windows onto it.
