i got my ps2 modded 3 years ago and it worked fine. it still works fine for back ups of original games. however i tried to download a game and burned it on a dvd. the problem is it appears to work but then after the title comes up the screen goes blue. i dont know why but when i entered the browser it looked like a readable disc but the screen goes blue after the playstation 2 title comes up
if anyone can help i will appreciate it thanks

what game, what media you burn it to (TDK 8X DVD-R for example)
what speed you burn it at.
What type of file was it that you burned?

I have not had a problem with many games with my DMS4 Pro.

was an Iso file packed in 7-zip format. used 7-zip to unpack and extract files

all my other back ups are playing. i am new to downloading ps2 games
this is the first time i tried to do it. any idea on what i did wrong

thanks

1. Memorex suck. The worst for doing games.
2. 16X speed not good either, stick with 8X
3. you should burn them at half the speed of the DVD, not at max.
for a 16X you should do 8X or even better 4X

and so i understand it was an ISO file you burned?

yes it was iso
i tried burning it again at 8X but same thing happened. the screen goes blue. it gives the impression that it is working but then goes blue after "playstation 2" comes on. but since my other backups are working i think it must be a computer error.
could you give some possible reasons for this to happen.

P.S i made sure it was NTSC and not PAL so how come its not working
and i like your graphic by the way how do put it on your replies

did my signature with Phtoshop CS V9
It has more stuff that you can do then i could take time to learn.

As far as the PC
1. other programs running in the backround while burning (shut down everything else in the system tray that is not being used)
2. using the PC while burning (needs all the memory it can get)
3. need to clean you DVD Burner with a cleaner disc.
4. burners firmware is not up to date
5. you just got a bad copy when you downloaded it
6. your DVD Burner is just starting to wear out.

Just a few possible causes.

I'm having the same problems but my burner is brand new also im using tdk16x DVD-R for shadow of colossus and it proceeds to load and then the screen goes dark. Now when I use my original copy it does the same thing. But when I disable the chip the original game works fine. the modchip im using is a

then there may be a setting on the chip that is wrong.
could be something small like that if all other games work and that one doesn't

I have the game but i have not played it yet.

hey sags, i had the same problem about 2 months ago with several games that i backed up, then i realised that i didnt have the latest bios or OS for my dms4 pro. I flashed my chip w/ the latest version of toxic bios and OS and retried all of the backups that wouldnt work before and they all worked fine, so you might want to give that a try.

means that every so often you need to check this site and update your chip with the new version of ToxicOS.
right now that is V0.41
http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/

start the PS2 while holding the square button and enter the settings menu and it should say what version you have right now.
If it is not V0.41 then do this

1. download ToxicOS V0.41
2. unzip the file to get the Bin & Cue file
3. Use a CD burning program like Nero to burn the CUE file AS AN IMAGE
4. stick the CD you burned in the PS2 and follow directions on screen.

dms4- Something else-1.0
i didnt see a 0.41 or anything like that
it also said US......Date on the settings menu
P.S be patient... i am not very knowledgeable in this stuff

do the above and get ToxicOS V0.41 and flash the chip
it is the newest version out. with how long you have had the chip there should have been at least 3 flash updates that you should have done. Mine is only about a year and a half old and mine started out with V0.2 so i have flashed it with 2 new updates since i have had it.
It may help with the problem and it may no, but you really should keep the chip up to date with the newest ToxicOS either way.

glad to hear you got it working. Newer updates for your chip support newer features and fixes for newer games.
Now you know where to get them, check the site about 1-2 times a years for newer versions.

hey guys
this is kind of off topic and i did not want to waste space by opening a thread. my question is if you DL a game and you find literally over 150 rar files all containing an iso file what the heck am i supposed to do. SOTC had only 1 iso file. since you guys have been so helpful i am wondering if you could help with this one
thanks

get and install a program called WinRAR.
then make a new folder on your hard drive for the game
then right click on the first file, like game.001, and from the drop down menu choose extract file.
Then it will ask where to save it and you will browse for the folder you made earlier.

you will see that as it extracts the file it is not just extracting the first one, but all of them and rebuilding whatever was compress, which in most cases is an ISO file. So after about 20 minutes when it is done go to the file you created and look to see if there is an ISO there.
