I recently bought a pioneer DVD writer and a friend told me about DVD shrink. It works good up until the "backup" step. I click on the button and it looks like it will load, then it just suddenly closes the whole program automatically. I tried reinstalling it and the same thing happens.

Has this happened to anyone else before? Any tips or help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Welcome to aD!
Sounds like shrink may not be able to handle the movie. Since it's no longer updated there are more and more it can't handle alone.
So try ripping the files w/ DVDFab Decrypter then open those files in Shrink and process as usual. (Free method)

Or have AnyDVD running in the background with Shrink. AnyDVD has a free 21 day trial period. http://slysoft.com
What movie is giving you this problem?

Do you have Nero? DvdShrink cannot burn a movie on it's own, you have to specify a burning engine for it to use. If you don't have Nero, try ImgBurn or DVDDecrypter to burn.

MS Windows XP MCE SP2, Intel P4 3.20 GHz, 2.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce FX5600, Seagate 7200 rpm 200GB HDD, Sony SDMHS93 19" LCD, Field Value

When I click backup, what is supposed to happen?

I installed DVD encrypter and this VOB program too. It still doesn't work...

I opened the files through DVD Shrink after they went through those 2 programs, and it still automatically shuts down???

Any suggestions?

When you click backup, you should get a menu with quality options etc, then upon confirmation of your settings, Nero should take over and burn. If you don't have Nero, be sure the "automatically burn with Nero" option is unchecked in Shrink's preferences menu. Shrink should save a file to your HD that is burnable using Decrypter or ImgBurn.

Try some of the suggestions here:
http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=65136&highlight=...

When you click back up you should see something like this - if you have Nero your drive will be listed by default - if not hard disc folder will be listed. In the tool bar under select back up target you can choose.
You can also choose to burn an iso w/ DVD Decrypter.

I disabled "burn with Nero" or whatever it said in PREFERENCES and the backup window opened, it is now encoding.

I'll let you guys and girls know how it works out.

Thanks
