Swap Magic 3.6 and Slimline Ps2

Hi, I'm wondering if anybody can help me on a particular problem I'm having. I recently got a flip top lid and swap magic 3.6. I'm using DVD decrypter to burn my game backups. The copied games I make do work and I know this by putting swap magic disk in, when it gets to the load screen, I replace the disk with an original game, the load it and it by pressing x. When it comes to a menu, I replace the real ps2 game with a backup using the flip top lid and it carries on working.
The question I have is do you have to have the original ps2 game in the first place to load the backup because so far I wait until the game loads using magic swap and the original and then replace it with a backup and it carries on working. Is it possible to load another backup game without having the original in the first place? If so, how do you do this because when I remove an original ps2 disk and try to replace with a different copied game nothing happens.
It makes swap magic pointless for me at the moment because if you have the original disk there is no need for a backup.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated, cheers.

You should be able to just load swap magic, then change to your backup game. What game in particular are you tring to load?

I have the original ps2 games of "From Russia With Love" and "The Godfather" and backup copies of them, so when I load them with swap magic (the original ps2 game) and replace the disk with my backup at the language select screen (the first screen) they work. But if I try to load a different back up with a different original, for instance the Godfather original replaced with the From Russia with Love backup (same method) nothing happens. Thanks

Well essentially what you are doing is changing from one game to another half way through the game, so obviously it won't work.

I'm still curious as to why you load your original first before you load your backup though - swap magic should load your backup directly?

That's what most of the guides say you need to do. When I try to load a backup at the swap magic screen nothing happens and the swap magic screen just refreshes, it doesn't start loading but I already know the backup works because of the earlier method.

What guides are you reading? None of the ones I've seen in the past asks you to use the original disc first...

Also what media did you use?
