i tried to get me ps2 chipped today and the chip installer goes to me that my laser is weak and if he installs matrix infinity chip the laser will go in a few weeks and he recomended fliptop to me does.
does any1 know if fliptop and swap magic affected the laser aswel because i dont want to blow up my ps2 laser.
my ps2 version is 12

I'd dare to say your chip installer needs to read up on his stuff.
Most people who know a bit about this would be able to tell you that you'll need a laser fix with the modchip in some newer models (mind you, i'm not one of those people, so i don't know if a v12 needs one of those), and that using swapmagic would would wear down your laser just as bad if you're gonna be using backup copies of games.

V12 does need a lazer fix with a modchip, as I had mine done last week.

Eventually it will, just like it will with any mod.
I'd personally advise you to just get your console chipped by someone who can put in the laser fix as well, rather than go with swapmagic and a fliptop, but that's just my opinion.

actually, with swap magic, it depends on the quality of the media you're burning with. Bad quality will ruin your laser.

Not always true i_suck, friend of mine ruined his laser twice while using verbatims, first time with swap magic, second time with a DMS3, both times he did it in about a year and 7 months, give or take a week (then again, he did always play for hours and hours on end..)
