This guide shows the process of converting video files to MP4 video to store and view on Sony PlayStation Portable. The guide is pretty simple and should be fine for new users. In this guide we will be using commercial, called Wondershare Video to PSP Converter. Before we start there are a few things that you need to remember first.

What are the video capabilities of Wondershare Video to PSP Converter?
Wondershare Video to PSP Converter supports many popular video formats. You can convert AVI/WMV/ASF/MOV/RM/RMVB/MPG/MPEG/ASF/DAT to PSP compliant format (MP4). It also uses a PSP Files Manager to transfer the files to your Memory Stick.
You can download free from here
http://www.dvd-ripper-copy.com/download/video-psp-download.html
You can know more about it by referring here
http://www.dvd-ripper-copy.com/forum/index.php

Introduction & Requirements
Wondershare Video to PSP Converter - This is commercial software and will display a mark on your encoded video until you register it. Make sure you check back to the site for new versions regularly. You can purchase from here
http://www.dvd-ripper-copy.com/buy/video-psp-purchase.html
You can connect your PSP to your computer via a USB cable now, or at the end of the encoding process. Remember you will need enough free space, so the standard 32MB Memory Stick will only do for a few minutes of video (depending on the quality settings we set later).
I recommend that if you are encoding long files, you disable anything that might clash with the process, such as Screen Savers, Scheduled tasks like virus scans, updates etc.

Software Interface

Wondershare Video to PSP Converter has a simple and intuitive Interface. You could say there are two main sections. At the top of the left part, that we?ll call a Tool Bar, you can import video files, register, open the option menu & PSP files manager here. Below is the Track list, after files load, you can see the video information here. Next is Profiles, you can rename output files, select profiles, change output folder here. Of course, the Start button is beside. The right part is a Preview Window. You can preview the video here.
Wondershare Video to PSP Converter inherits the simple style of Wondershare software. You can manage the conversion with just a few clicks.

Adding files

Clicking the button on the upper left corner or double clicks in the blank area to import video files. After video files loading, you can get video information in the Track list. Additional, video would be auto played in the preview window; you can use it just as a video player.
You can import multi video files at one time or import them one by one, Wondershare Video to PSP Converter support batch conversion. More over, you can delete any video files you don?t want to convert by pushing delete button.

Setting a Profile and Destination path

There are two kinds of profile for you to select: PSP MPEG-4 Movie (*.mp4) & PSP H.264 Movie (*.mp4). What?s the difference between these two profiles? PSP MPEG-4 Movie Provides faster conversion speed while PSP H.264 Movie (*.mp4) has higher compress ration with smaller conversion files.
To change a destination folder click the little icon beside. The default destination folder is
C:\Program Files\Wondershare\Video to PSP Converter\Output\

Option setting
Click the option button on the top of the main interface. A window will be pop up. Here you can change the settings for the output video and audio.

As to video setting, there are four parts:
1)Resolution (320 * 240, 368 * 208, 400 * 192, 480 * 272)
2)Frame rate 23.975 p/s (NTSC Movie) , 14.985 p/s
3)Format(xVID and H.264)
4)Bit rate(256 kbps , 384 kbps , 512 kbps ,576 kbps , 640 kbps , 768 kbps , 900 kbps , 1500 kbps)
As to audio setting, there are three parts:
1)Bit rate (56 kbps, 64kbps, 96kbps,128kbps)
2)Channels (1 Channels, Mono, 2 Channels, Stereo, Keep original)
3)Volume (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 175%, 200%), after testing, this setting play not well.

Special function
Wondershare Video to PSP Converter support partial conversion. After loading video files. Double click at the video title in the Track List. A window will be pop up, you can drag the scroll bar to set the conversion start time and end time freely, more over you can type in time manually. Then only the desire parts will be converted.

Start the Process
Finishing all the option setting, you can click START button to start conversion. More over, you can abort the conversion by click Cancel button.
The time the conversion will take depends on the length and number of files you selected

Success

When the process completes, you might want to play back the MP4 in something like QuickTime to check out sound sync and other things that could cause issues. If it's fine, then go ahead and transfer the video to your PSP using PSP files manager

Transfer video to PSP

Connect the PSP to your computer using a USB cable, and wait for the computer to recognize it (should hear a sound, auto play might suggest some things you can do, and a removable disk should appear in My Computer). Now click the tool button on the top of the main interface, and the PSP files Manager should load.

Where you last saved your video files should automatically appear on the left, but if it doesn't, click the Browse button and locate the folder. Now you can simply select the video you want to transfer to your PSP, and click ->> button.
A few moments later the video will appear on the right also. It is now on your PSP. Exist USB Mode on your PSP by pressing circle and go check to see if your video was transferred properly. Make sure to watch it all now to see if there are any sound sync issues.

Finally
Hopefully this guide has helped you enough so that you can convert all your video files to your PSP without any problems. :)

Not a bad bit of software! My only gripe (and this is why i wont be using it) is that its not compatiable with AVS Script files, until they have fixed this i wont be using it.

Sudds,I agree with you.
It is pity that its not compatiable with AVS script files.
Maybe the next version will support it.
In general, this software's performance is ok.
It is worthy to try it. :)

It's good cause I can convert any video song from around 60mb - 100mb to about 6mb - 10mb wich is viewable on my psp with not bad quality and still nice sound. The program is neat cause the screen is the same size as the psp am I right? So you can view the quality it will show on the psp :)

Just got a reply lads:

Here is a record of your question.

Subject:Video Formats
This is agreat piece of software that has been created here, and i would
certainly buy it if it had just one thing that i look for in these movie
converters...the ability to use AVS files, which are a script file that i use to
edit and shape my movie before conversion. AVS Script (AVI Synth) allows me to
deal with the ghosting found in most movies when converted straight from the
original file, it also allows me to add colour, brightness and contrast and also
crop the video getting rid of the black bars.
I,am currently using PSPvideo9 which is freeware, but if you maybe include the
use of AVS files in your software, i would buy it.

Dear Electricg,

We thank you for your interests on our program. But I regret that the version
1.0.5 of Video to PSP Converter doesn\'t support AVS files. For its upgraded
version in the future, we may include the use of AVS files in the software if
necessary.

Best Regards,

Alice-Wondershare

sudds,I promise this is coincidence.
I just introduce a software to you, but not advice you to purchase it.Obviously, more and more functions will be added into software's update version, so i guess it would support AVS format in the next version. :)
