man, i don't know anyone who likes Taiyo Yudens :) LOL~
take note of the 200 pack w/ free sleeves and free shipping for $63.99, that's a better price than the 200 without the paper sleeves!that is a VERY good deal..limited time offer...jump on it while the going is good if ya like DVD-R :)

hehe, quit pickin on me kiv. Of course we all like TY's. Guess I should have just said good dvd-r's. Thats the only drawback for me since I'm on the +r bandwagon.

but for those interested in the DVD-R format, i can arguably say that the link you posted for the PREMIUMLINE Taiyo Yudens from supermediastore is a GREAT BUY! if i didn't have like 1,000 TYG01/TYG02/TYG03 left, i'd jump on it myself~ :)
even for those that were skeptical about using the "valueline" TYs (as they're a lil bit cheaper, but lotta people were weary about the quality of them), now there really is NO excuse not to use one of THE BEST DVD-R media available today! the premiumline in the 50-cakebox spindles is without question, the "good stuff"
thanks for the good deal mort, i'm sure a lot of people will appreciate these QUALITY TYs at a good price.

Made another trip to the big big city ! Checked at 2 officedepots and auperWallyworld ! For the Maxell Sale . All either Officedepot store had in the 16x Maxells was DVD-R ( Taiwan only!) but was able to find 2 50ct. spindles of 8x DVD+R Maxell ( MADE IN JAPAN) and the let me have them for the sale price ! so I bought'em ! TThey did have Maxell MIJ inkjet printable DVD+R's but not on sale !WEird thing is that 1 spindle has the Made in japan on a white sticker near the upx/Barcode & the other has it printed on the wrapper /sleve itself like normal anyone run into the paper label before? HAd'nt opened them yeT to run through DVD identifier but I am going too soon ! Good luck & happy Shopping!

I have used several hundreds of the valueline and not one Coaster in the bunch. They burn and play excellent :)

from MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, i would say they are...i've used both "lines" extensively and doing a quality check afterwards USUALLY reported near identical scores on MY particular batches of TY media~ :)
some could argue that the "premiumline" is "better," but GENERALLY speaking, if you are not too concerned about ONLY PURCHASING THE BEST, then you shouldn't really be able to tell the difference...
the "valueline" are STILL produced in Japan by Taiyo Yuden, it's just they didn't "make the cut" to be considered the "premiumline"; that fact does NOT make them bad discs however, i have had no problems with the "valueline" that i've used and still use to this day, your chances of getting a "bad batch" (however slim that chance is) in either line is the same, regardless of what people may think...
but with the current sale pricing on the "premiumline" 200 pack w/ free sleeves and free shipping, you are pretty much guaranteed the "top of the line TYs" if you choose to order those, plus they come in a nice cakebox rather than being tape-wrapped like the valueline does, not that it really makes a difference, but some people are PICKY as to what they will buy and pass up.

saugmon- took a page drom your book today - went to get gas @ next town over &went to a wallyworld found 3packs of MAXELL MIJ'S 8X 50 ct.DVD+R They were $18.00 each a little higher than a regular bestbuy sale but .36 cents apiece for MIJ MAXELL could'nt pass it up ! also had some 5 packs of the scratchgauard or whatever maxells DVD+R MIJ but they were like 1.00 a disc too expensive ! so now I'm up to 5 50ct. spindles of MIJ Maxell 8X DVD+R think that should hold me for a while?

BIGTOXY69: I'm only about a 5 iron away from my nearest Super Wal-mart. I dread going in there. It was great when I worked nights,but working days-huge lines, UGGH!
I'll have to check out their clearance aisle to see if they got any maxells. Last I checked,they had tons of hitachi maxells for $22 a spindle.

Went riding to the big big city ! & checked out a Super WALLYEORLD! They had some dvd media in the closeout section ! The 5 packs of Scratchguard Maxells HG $ 3.00 .60 ea. is a little high . Also had Maxells Inkjet Printables 25Pks. for $10.00 ea. Sony DVD+R'S 50ct. spindles (TAIWAN) $15.00 ea. and A 100Ct. spindle of IMATION for $30.00 dollars ! & as much as I like a bargain I walked away empty handed ! ( Put down The CakeBox ! and step away from the Dispaly sir!) The impression I'm getting is that WAllyWorld is going to Smaller quantity packs at higher prices ! Bigger profit margin that way I guess ! anyway Good luck O' YODA of the digital media set ! happy Burning & Varmint dancing!

$10 for 25 pk of Japanese Maxell +8x is a heck of a deal for me. Way more expensive on the net for plus format/inkjet printables-for me, LOL.Except for the rare sale at Office Depot where they are buy1/get 1 free on those full hubs.
I checked my local wallyworld earlier. They had their media spread out everywhere. First,they moved it from the regular aisle in place of high dollar inkcartridges.They had it down from the regular spot/had some by the tv dvd-recorders/and another clearance aisle. No clearance for those full hub printables. The 5 pk scratchproof maxell was still $5
Nothing that I considered a good deal,except for a cam corder battery for my sharp viewcam for $20
The did drop the 50 pk spindles down from $25 to $22. Lots of Hitachi maxells there!

The Maxell I saw at Office Depot had those small white labels saying mij on them over the upc code,but underneath on the upc code they all read mit.When I asked nobody had any idea what the story was,so I passed.They did have Mij 100 ct cake boxes,I'll wait for that sale.
