You're welcome. Which board did you end up using? Sounded like the Asus was lost. Did you OC it at all or just leave it stock? Default on those is still good for a single core.
And to get us back on track, yes that TY is "good stuff".

ended up using my Gigabyte Pro-G board, yeah, still couldn't find my ASUS :( looked high and low, to no avail... LOL
i left it stock btw, gigabyte's mobo is not as feature rich in the OC dept. as the ASUS, so i just updated the BIOS and let bygones be bygones :) it's STILL a screamer for a single core Intel chip and remains VERY cool too (30C idle/less than 40C full load w/ Zalman heatsink) :)
sorry for the off-topicness, as stated in my sig, Taiyo Yuden 4 LIFE!

Sounds like a sweet setup. Those CPUs run so cool Zalman coolers are overkill. I still use one though. OC(ed) from 3.4 tp 3.62GHz, I'm still getting similar temp readings to yours. At 3.6 the performance is better than the current 3.8GHz P4(s). I bet the PC you built burns TYs well. LOL

One thing i noticed about the sony +r 25 and 50 packs made in japan at my local bestbuy is that the Made In japan said on the package that the dics were created to DVD+R specifications v1.2 but all the MIT +rs were V1.3. Lokked for an exception to the rule but found none. Does this mean that they are older and not being produces by sony anymore or taiyo yuden hasnt updated the specifications yet?

The DVDs carry the Sony label. However, they are manufactured by 2 different companies in different manufacuturing facilities (different countries). If you want to check revision codes for the separate media, DVDInfoPro serves up the specs. TY may have done some revisions, but that wouldn't effect the Sony plant, or vice versa. The Sony/TY I have carries a revision code of ooh, I'm not sure what the latest is. Sony DVDs look alike, so I'm having a problem finding a Sony MIT in the bunch, but the revision code of the Sony would have nothing to do with the TY code, I suspect those are in house designations. With the quality of the 8X +R Sony DVDs, it makes little difference where they come from, Japan or Taiwan.

Seems you and Arniebear both got the in house items. MCC has long been considered top of the line. I've gotten a bunch of verbatims from different manufacturers, but it's all been good.
