Black Screens?

I just got the new swap magic and I tried to load it up, but after the initial playstation splash I get a black screen, but when I power off the screen I get a flash of something, can't say exactly what though


now I've had my ps2 for about 3 years, is there any solution for this? did I get a faulty disc? is my system just too old?


any help is appreciated

Yeah, I got one of those too. When the screen turns black and the disk stops, swap disks and I have to push square to start. You may have to play around with it abit. Sorry forgot to mention, I have the version 14, I thought it was that mine was too new. I use coder now, works great.

memorex, but I haven't even had the oppurtunity to try the game copy I burned because the swap magic never loaded, just the playstation splash and the black screen

it could be that your swap magic is a faulty disc, or your laser is dirty.

You should check out that media sticky thread.

that media type is bad.

I use TDK brand and DVD R+
DVD R- is okay too.

the thing is, i have verbatim media 8x DVD-R ... the swap magic won't read it, it just comes up as a blank screen ... the downloaded games come as many files then i extract them into an ISO and now i don't know how to burn them correctly i guess ... i used DVD Decrypter and selected the ISO b/c there was no MDS file like this ( http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/298323 ) said and i burned it at 4x speed then tried to get it to work with swap magic and it woudn't ... its an EA game Fight Night Round 3 and I patched it b/c of the EA games don't work that great or won't work at all if u don't patch so i did that and it still wouldn't load ... just a black screen BUT i used DVD Decrypter to ISO-Read a Original PS2 game and I did ISO-Write the MDS file and it worked ... i just don't get it

mine do that every so often
i just keep loading the disk sooner or later it will work...most likely

[my dvd disk works fine but the cd messes up some times
