PS2 Slim Disc Read Error

Hi.

I recently bought a used PsTwo, the slim version, and it worked perfectly until
yesterday. Now I get "Disc Read Error" on every single disc I try. The strange thing is,
when I put Diagnose Mode On, it starts the game and runs it fairly smooth with a few
screen lags. Because of this, I have a feeling I need to adjust the laser. I've only found
guides for this operation for the big version of the PS2. So my question is, have
anyone done this on a PSTwo Slim with any success? And if so, do you know about a
guide somewhere on the web?

[Edit] Just wanted to add that I've tried cleaning the laser both once and twice. Makes
no difference.

The procedures are the same, except that this guide is for the old PS2 and not the slim one (I haven't seen anything nearly as detailed as the one found on this website for the slim PS2).
