Can u backup any game or are some like dvd movies to where you can't back them up b/c of the copyright protection on them??

yes, you can back up games. But you need a modded PS2 to play them unlike movies.
There is not protection, just a part of a PS2 game that a DVD Burner can not copy which is why a modded system is needed to play them.
