Alot of people say that the father of cracks and emulators wont make a downgrading program for 2.1+ because he doesn't condole piracy. Well please explain to me then why he's making emulators for SNES? No matter how old the games, they still have copyrights.
I just see it as an excuse from him because he can't make one.
I own a firmware 1.5 so im not trying to make him do it. I'm just amused that you guys can say this with a straight face.

emulators are not illegal in their own, because if you own the original cartridge of set game, say you own a SNES and a cartridge of Super Mario World, then being in pocession of set ROM and EMU is not illegal. dude the argument over wether or not roms and emulators are illegal is old and tired, downgrading an emulation are 2 different areas of programming. and so emulation isn't technically piracy, neither is downloading an image of a game you own. hence backups.

Emulators are based off of consoles that are no longer being sold anymore. Therefore you aren't really pirating as no one's making a profit off of that system anymore.

Then why is it illegal to Rip music from my cd to my MP3 player?
Thats illeagal and the president of usa does it.

well, y do they sell cd burners then? tahts just ASKING to be a pirate (ARRGHHH XD !!!). but theyre sold to make backups of data cds. does anyone do this at all? if u say yes, im pretty sure u let people 'hold on to your copy just in case an uneventful event happens they have a backup of it'...
but yeah, ROMs arent illegal to download, unless you have the original. how the heck can u backup a cartridge, unless u buy the hardware to copy it over :S . im pretty sure that when u buy a game, u are entitled to create a backup of it. 90% of people who have ROMs dont have a backup of it >_< . similar to emulators. it aint illegal unless u own it :P

It ain't illegal anyway. Those consoles aren't being sold anymore so you're not really stealing profits away from sega or nintendo. No big deal.

That's sure: Emu isn't piracy. When you buy Sonic mega collection on PS2, it is legal altough that it's a poor emu of the genesis. PS2 emulate the psone and the XBOX360 also the XBOX, but it is a way to maintain the old generation business.
BUT the real case is the Wii position. Nintendo claims that people will be able to download and play NES and SNES games. I'm not sure that will be free and don't know if Nintendo has to rebuy the copyright...
But I'm sure that is a great and prosperative idea.
Old game are not bad and have nostalgic power. Every RPG fan love the SNES and fighting game on the Neo Geo are more strategic or fun than the most part of recent 2D fighting-game.
Hourra for the old school game and long to Sony PSP homebrew community.

Err.. its not illegal to copy CD's you own to your MP3 player. It's only illegal to pass on the MP3 files to others.

According to the RIAA it's illegal to rip music from cds to mp3 players. They say you should buy the digital version of that song from iTunes or Microsoft if you want to put it on an mp3 player. It's not a law or anything, though. The RIAA, however, is bullshit so no need to get worried about it.

technically it's illegal to rip the cd to ur hard-drive (read the cd's no un-authorized copying) they really don't have any grounds to do anything if u've copied it, but they 'could' if they wanted to be bitches.

Dude nothing is really illegal until u get caught. And u only get caught if u try to sell it. Why do u think so many site offer u to dl roms and not get busted? They only get busted when they try to sell. That goes for everything that is copyable. Is that a word???
Just like them kids who are goin to jail forever for sellin a modded xbox with hella games in it. Its not illegal to mod ur xbox and have copied games in it but when u try to sell and make profit thats when u are in deep shiz with the popo.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)
