Ok, so i have been backing up movies for quite some time...3+ years. Well, i'm coming up with problems on the newer movies. Recently with Aeon Flux, Capote, so on. Well, i have been using the combo of DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and Nero. I have also acquired AnyDVD and VOB Blanker. Well, those do not work either. When i use Decrypter or Blanker or AnyDVD to decrypt. I then put it through shrink. About half way thru shrinking my computer shuts completely down. Anywho, many dvd still work thru the entire process like Fresh Prince, Memoirs of Geisha, so on. So, i'm guessing it is isolated to just the newer movies that have a different layer of protection or something. So, i am asking all of you people out there. What is the best way to backup my dvd's? Like software wise. What software will take care of my problems? Also, side note, i'm a cheap skate. So, i do not want to purchase any ware. So, where i can acquire the software for free would also help. Hopefully someone has a solution. I hate it when i waste my time to get nothing!

Thanks

P.S. I had to re load my computer a while ago and i tried to re-install DVD X Copy again. But it wouldn't let me cause it said that it has already been activated. Is there any way to contact DVD X Copy to release my serial so i may again install my copy?

@shaun420

There are tons, including free tools -- yes even some free tools will be able to rip and backup any dvds/movies regardless. If you want to go with the FREE route, then follow my newly revised "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" guide, here http://www.k-probe.com/backup-newly-release-movie-DVD-DVDFAB-Decr...

If you want to go with retail, then get AnyDVD from slysoft. Below are some tools that I highly recommend.

** DVDFAB Decrypter (FREE)
** DVD Shrink (FREE)
** VobBlanker (FREE)
** FixVTS (FREE)
** DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn (FREE)
** AnyDVD (retail cracking engine)

Unless you want super quality on your backups, then of course you'll need;

** DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP or ProCoder or HC

Best of lucks to you and happy burning.
