Afterdawn and not to mention Google has provided me with info I need to ask some necessary questions. What is the deal with the Heat? The most interesting piece of info I discovered for those who have felt their PS2 slim get a little on the hot side is that instead of having a bulky fan, the PS2 case was designed to act as a heatsink and therefore feels hot to the touch. I think this is all well and good but I think it's a little too hot in my case. I guess I can't call it overheating cause it isn't causing any very noticable problems during gameplay like freezing, instability or sudden shutdown.
I have also read about cooling solutions and there are a couple, but as any Slim PS2 owner would be, I am disappointed that I even need to bother looking. That aside, am I wrong in thinking my PS2 is too hot? It feels like it has sat in the desert sun when I feel the top of it during gameplay, but it plays on. I am getting nervous. As far as cooling solutions go I have read that there are USB fans available, and I don't know why but I read that the vertical stand can help cooling which I can't beleive. Wouldn't the horizontal position mean that that the surface below it gives the heat a place to go?
All I know is that it is a damn pitty that Sony has a heat issue cause aside from that factor this is just as good as the Fat PS2, but for completely different reasons. Thanks very much to all who respond.
P.S. When people come into these Threads about the slim PS2 issues and mention that the Fat Ps2 is better, not only are you not helping, but you're no different from those people who mention that the Xbox is best in the PS2 Forums which is simply out of line in my opinion. Needless to say, please don't bother with it here cause I find it pretty clear that Fat is better at this point in time. Enjoy your Fat PS2 and keep it to yourself, please.
