I think the reason why my ps2 won't read the backup dvds because of it's type and how good it was burn. My desktop burns dvd+r, but dvd+r won't work good on my ps2 since i recently bought sony 21 and it didn't work on my ps2 although it has a quality of 95. I bought some verbatim dvd-r to burn on my laptop, but my laptop's burner sucks major since the dvds gave a quality of around 50-70. But they were able to boot on my ps2.
i just ordered some taiyo yuden(coming sooon), but how good would it work if my dvd burner sucks at burning dvd-r? the ones that were able to boot up were very very very slow, especially the scenes.
so should i get a new dvd burner that can burn dvd-r and put it on my desktop? or should i try updating my firmware, the last time i updated my firmware busted my burner on the laptop, but i was able to fix it. there were a couple of same firmware update, but i didn't know which one to get so i just picked one and it busted my burner.
Some PS2 don't read DVD+R, the newer ones can however. You can booktype DVD+R to DVD-Rom to make it more compatible though.
I've found that the laptop optical drives are usually not as good as the full size ones on a desktop, if I were you I'd spend some money buying a DVD-R burner for the desktop.
oh i have the old fat ps2 version. i think it is my laptop's dvd burner problem. these verbatims are supposed to be good, although it was made in Taiwan. oh and i think getting a new dvd burner is a good idea, i was thinking about a BenQ one. But i'm still waiting for someone to help me on which firmware to pick on HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4040N dvd burner. The firmware site has different versions such as one for dell and ect. i don't know which one to pick. Any help would be great, thanks.
