Hi I really like the print quality of the ritek g05 media but I had alot of trouble with the disc hanging up at the end of the movie so I quit using them and went to TY. I havent had many coasters with the TY's but the print surface isnt as nice as the ritek's. Anyone out there found any reliable media with print face like ritek's. I was thinking of looking trying verbatims but it there print surface isnt better than TY's then I wont.

Thanks

I use Verbatim and Japanese Maxell +8x white/full hub printables. They aren't that great because of a satin finish. I haven't tried any riteks. I would like to try some glossy, white full hub inkjet printables.

I've got a batch of Ty-g02 shiny inkjet printables that blow my white full hubs away on disc cover quality.

That may be a simple fix:

When it hangs up,is that while you view them on a stand alone player or your DVD-RW when you view it on your pc?

If it's on a stand alone player, play that backup on your pc-using the DVD-RW drive that burned it,to play it to see if it hangs up there as well.

It could be you are burning too close to the outer edge of the disc.A reduced backup target may take care of that issue.

What programs you using for your dvd backup process?

I use DVD Shrink and they hang up on several different players along with the drive that burns them. There is a definite flaw with the ritek go5s purchased around 2 or 3 months ago. Many posts are out there around this issue. I havent seen the glossy TY's printable. Where did you see these. Or are you talking about the shiny silver printable TY's?

Personally I like verbatims printable surface over TY's and the media itself is just as good too.

There's some glossy inkjet printable media out there, but I believe it's a lower quality brand name like optodisc/prodisc/Beale/etc.That's why I didn't try them.

Shiny inkjet printable? I love them. They have their own distinctive look-like a 3D image. I also do lightscribe, and the shiny inkjet printables blow them and my full hub white away. Those shiny aren't full hub though, another drawback. I've got a pic of them in my user profile. These are Ty-g02. I wouldn't risk these with anything other than ty or verbatim.

I haven't tried Ty printable white inkjet. I've only used Verbatim +8x and Maxell +8x in the full hub/white/inkjet printable. I just picked up 6 pks of maxell 25pks in a walmart clearance for $10 a pk.That is very cheap for maxell hitachi full hub printable-same results as my verbatim.

I am gonna check my local Wal-Mart(s) to see if they have Maxell printables on Clearance as well. I will clean them out of their MIJ if they do!!! I have noticed that the DVD media section in the store closest to me has shrank recently...

Office Depot had a nice selection of White inkjet printable media, just they never have any more sales on them like they use to.They use to have buy 1/get1 free of maxell inkjet printable, but not this time around.

I'll check my next door neighbor-Super Walmart-and see if they got any. Clearances vary by store. Some stores clear something out a lot earlier than other stores. That's how I got most of my fishing rods/reels/baits/and line-LOL. One store would have rods on clearance, store 20 mins away had stren/trilene fishing line, and another would have reels, etc.

There's been lengthy discussion on the Ritek G05. The regular G05s seem to be a LOT more reliable than the printable G05s... My one and only purchase of the printable G05s left me very disappointed... They played/scanned great initially, but after a few months they were total garbage!!! I still have at least 40 of them sitting idle. I stick with the TY and Verbs (90% TY)...

I have tons of printable RitekG05's they still play fine from over a year ago...my problem however is with sony sony discs & some fuji's not being able to playback in some of my friends dvd players properly ...& Verbatim's too...they would not play all the way thru properly whereas the printable RitekG05 & the regular goldtop's(RitekG05) would play all the way thru flawlessly......

INkjet printables expensive ( But Look proffesional) Lightscribe also expensive but cool ! Sharpie pen cheap ! not as pretty ( depending on your penmanship & artistic talent! But efficient and get's the job done !Not knocking inkjet printables or Lightscribe ! But don't have an R-Series epson yet ! But can lightscribe with the BENQ Dw-1655 but everyone should use what they like & what works for them ! Except paper labels , memeorex & cmc media no one should use those ! Happy Printing!

Movies27, I have been burning disc for some time now, and I have 2 different burners, plextor and lighton, and also have a burner in a laptop I recently purchased, I have also tried burning these riteks go5's at 2x,4x,8x, and they still have the same issue near the end of the disc. I bought 200 of them and the first cakebox wasnt as bad as the last 100 which were terrible. I had 1 out of 5 or 6 with this problem and it is very frustrating. Again I played these on many types of players and they all hang in the same location. Now how is this a joke. Luck it up on google, its not just me. It has realy cost me. I have no trouble with verbatim or ty's or maxwell(walmart) printables and non printables.

Probably a bad batch. It can even happen with taiyo yuden and verbatim.

If you got any left, reduce the backup target size to keep it from reaching the outer edge of the disc.Around 4300 mbs.

Yep, Mort, they are -R. I prefer +R booktyped to -ROM, but with those prices (not to mention that I have zero compatibility problems with -R with my equipment), it is too good to pass up! Look at my blog for scans done on both formats of TY printables on various burners.

Plus and dash internet prices?

Check out the shiny inkjet printables, Wholy Moly! I got the Ty-g02 as apposed to the plus format of ty or verbatim. Huge price difference for shiny inkjet printables, but well worth it.

I'd buy some silver hub printables too. These LS discs are pretty cool but still way to expensive and don't print to the hub either.

Sorry got side tracked on disc quality. But good point about shortening to avoid this problem. I had thought about it. Everyone is mentioning the TY shiny as good quality print surface. Would it be comparable to the slickness of glossy photo paper, and it problably takes a little longer to dry also. I might try these TY's with this. One thing about the riteks I liked was the slickness of the print surface. You can tell the difference between them and the TY's and maxwells by rubbing them. I might try a 50 pack of riteks once again to make sure it wasnt just a bad batch.

I would love to get a hold of some quality, full hub shiny inkjet printables.

Hands down, the picture quality of the shiny inkjet printables kick a** compared to my lightscribe and full hub white inkjet printables. The inner hub does suck on the lightscribe and shiny.

Now full hub semigloss or glossy inkjet printables should look awesome. My MCC-004 and Maxell-002-00 full hubs have a satin look, and the light covers are disappointing. Dark covers turn out pretty nice. The lighter covers,I'll use the shiny or lightscribe-depending on how that cover should look.
