Hey guys whats up. Ive been reading alot on Tokijin?s PS2 Modchip FAQ. Im just looking to get a little advice. Ive read up on the 3 most dependable and affordable modchips and I think Ive decided to go with the DMS 4 Pro SE. Is this a good choice?? Ive read up on it I just want to know what some of you guys think. Also if I bought this chip is there like a step by step guide that shows me how to open the PS2 and solder the chip to putting the PS2 back together?
I also wanted to learn a little bit more about this HD loader thing? I read that the DMS 4 Pro SE can work with a HD loader is this true?
if so, what are the pros and cons?

That is an excellent choice for a modchip.
As for the guide, the chip should come with instructions, however, unless you have some really major soldering skills, i would advise against soldering it in yourself.

Get someone with a lot of experience in soldering small objects to do it for you, otherwise you might end up ruining your PS2.

As for the hdloader, once the chip is installed, you have to flash it with a the toxic OS http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/ , which comes equipped with a hdloader.
As for the pros and cons, to me there are just pro's : no wear and tear on the laser when running games from HD, reduced loading time, not having to be affraid of damaging the game discs *not that there's much to fear with backups, but it's still nice* etc etc.

Thanks, thats some good advice. I still dont understand this HD thing. Does it stand for hard drive? So after I get my ps2 modded I go to the link burn a program on a CD and run it in my PS2? Is there a FAQ on this HD thing cuz I have no idea what Im talking about. And also I live in a small town, is there a place thats very reliable that I can send my PS2 to and just get them to solder it? I would rather you guys suggest somewhere because Im still kind of a newbie. This might be a very simple question but I thought I would ask anyways. I heard that you can play snes games on a PS2 by getting the roms and etc etc. So will this mod chip boot support this? dont laugh Im pretty sure it does but I wanna make sure ahah. thanks

HD does indeed stand for Hard drive, and what the hd loader does is allow you to use a non sony HD and store games on it, run them from the HD, and more such things.
You can send your PS2 to several places, but from all i've heard Teammodders are the best there is.
As for the emulators, that's indeed possible, although i don't know that much about it *i only use emulators on my pc*

Whatever you get is up to you, it's more a choice of preference than one of what's better.
As for finding out what version you have you can tell from the model (fat or slimline) and the serial number.

if you want it done right and want people who stand behind their work then YES.

I got a DMS4 Pro & new laser installed in my old V5/6
and bought my used premodded Xbox from them.
I am a moderator on the site so i have gotten to know them and they are real good guys. The guy who does the PS2 installs, Davbere, is top notch.
His next project for me is taking my Slimline V12, putting it in a new HD Combo case with a 250GB hard drive to work with the already installed DMS4 Pro.

You may want to look into that if you are getting the slimline with DMS4 Pro SE and ever think you may want to get a hard drive. Which makes it easier with no discs needed, saving the laser life, and faster loading times than from DVD

How long does the laser life usually last on a PS2?

ok I think I have decided to buy the DMS pro SE from mod-chip.com
this is one of the websites teammodders.com mentioned. But how do I do this. I want them to solder the chip on for me. So do I order the chip wait till it comes in and then send my PS2 out? Or do i order the chip send my ps2 then they send it modded back to me? Also who would I send my PS2 to? teammodders or mod-chip.com? Are they partners? sorry to be annouying just curious?

they are not partners. you would send them the chip and the PS2 and Teammodders will mod it. Fill out the install form and ask in the forums, if they happen to have the chip you ned you may just be able to send them the PS2 and have them install the DMS4 Pro SE they have. They do premodded systems so there is always a chance they will have or can get what you need.
