Mine is a JAP psp and I always rename them like this with 5 letter's, for example :

Original names -

MPHLOADER
MPHLOADER%

After Renamed by me -

__SCE__MPHLO
%__SCE__MPHLO

Not sure if it works for all region psp's but it does work for the JAP ones. Sometimes even if you do rename it and it doesn't show the currupt data, doesn't mean it fixed, sometimes the homebrew/loadr wouldn't function properly, but luckily everything I put on my psp, it had :)

A few run umd games wont run abbreviated, but other than that its 99.9% effective.
