if installed like xp than can't uninstall vista except by formatting the drive. if have room on c:drive than copy your info off the d:drive than format it.

can use partition magic to increase drive c: & reduce drive d: as you pull off the info you want saved from drive d:

if carefull when resizing than won't lose info. see what free space is on drive d: & use partition magic to increase c: so that you will lose that free space in d: move as much info as c: will hold by cut & paste than repeat the process of getting more free space from d: that is needed to hold remaining info onto c:.

if the difference between 48 & 77 is free space than should be alright to reboot.

did you downloaded windows vista transformer pack or windows vista beta? if its the transformer pack then its simple to uninstall it . just back your way to the add/remove programs and scroll down, you will see windows vista transformer pack . just hit remove and you will see a window poped up with many options. i think its the last one or the second last one where it says uninstalling the transformer pack.. hope this helps.

good evening people,

i have a small problem... i wanted to try out the windows vista, so i downloaded the beta two, made a partition with partitionmagic and installed it... checked it out and enjoyed it and all and now i wanted to get rid of it. obviously there is no "uninstalling" of vista so i formatted the drive. everything is alright except when i boot up. i get this microsoft boot manager and i have to choose:

Microsoft windows ( vista )
Earlier version of windows ( xp )

so after formatted that second drive i STILL get this message... the BOOT.INI is a normal windows xp boot.ini file with nothing extra written.. so where can i edit/remove this boot manager?

please help me out..

Thank You

I think this will help... run from a command prompt

C:\boot\fixntfs -xp (or fixfat, whichever your file system is)

then delete c:\bootmgr and the boot folder. If entries are in C:\boot.ini, make it not read only, remove the line refering to the Vista install and save.

As for uninstalling Vista, i would assume it would be in Add/Remove if you upgraded 2000/XP (i haven't tested any uninstall process so i wouldn't actually know) or if you installed it onto another partition/HDD just format it.

I'm in the same place as you were...i've got vista on one drive and xp on another...

Is this the way to get rid of the dual boot option screen after formatting the drive with vista on it?

I keep hearing reading things about "bdcedit.exe" but haven't a clue what it is, does anyone know?

I'll be formatting the vista drive later...post back here if i have any problems booting after...

Thanks
