@mr_scott

Yeah! AnyDVD>Shrink>Nero burn

And movie starts off and plays smoothly thru entire DVD. None of that "appears messed up for a seconds".

I ripped When a Stranger Calls to the hard drive using DVD Fab Decryptor. When I open it in VobBlanker the initial size of VTS_01_*.VOB is 5211 MB, but the final size is 93 MB. Am I doing something wrong? I followed the steps shown in the guide that is in the link posted. Please help.

Has anyone had problems with WASC and "DVD43"? it locked-up computer on mine and my friends system, both of us had to crash, to unlock. Never had a disc freeze up system just by inserting... Message had to do with DVD43 error. Is this a new sony tactic of attacking system as part of protection? Both our systems are now unstable in other programs. Programs I use:
1clickDVD with
DVD43
or
DVD Fab and
Nero
I don't use DVD43 and DVD Fab together, I know they do the same thing, and are incompatable!

aabbccdd... The movie is lame...not worth the problems it gave me!

Thanks aabbccdd I was able to back-up movie with DVD Fab and Nero my question is their a new sony encryption that attacks programs on your system? This disc crashed both mine and by friends system the instant we inserted it, and we have both have had problems with other programs since. I have never had a DVD crash my computer!

@Lp531

Crashed my system when I opened NeroRecode and tried to open file for initial analysis with AnyDVD running. Had to reboot. Shrink however was unaffected.

edit: no system problems from the crash

LP351 rember some sony movies can install rootkit on your machine ,thats another good reason to have AnyDVD its blocks rootkit ,(which may have caused your pc to crash)i would scan your machine for it(rootkit) with "Spysweeper" or a clean tool

Thanks aabbccdd... Thats what I was trying to find out. I knew sony CD's could install a "rootkit" I didn't know they did it with DVD's... I guess that was naive of me!...Isn't sony being sued over this for doing it on CD's? Anyway Thanks for the 411... I'll scan my system to see what I can find...AD Rocks!!!

@Lp531

I've had other lockups this was not the first. Mostly with Nero recode. Surprisingly they keep occurring with AnyDVD active. I just chalk it up to windows ideosyncracies. I definitely don't have rookit from $ony installed.

@aabbccdd
Don't waste your time by actually watching the movie. One of the worst in the last few months. It was truly more fun backing up than watching this dog.

Thanks Garmoon...Its Nero that I am having problems with since inserting disc...Adaware showed nothing, same with Spybot search & destroy... I am thinking about restoring my system to an earlier date...Don't like doing it, but I think it might cure systems hic-cups...What do you think?

And you guys thought I was kidding about this movie being potentially complicated,this was a tough one. A sign of things to come maybe. Oddly enough no one here is discussing the "main movie" and "unreferenced material" being none compressible which also contributes the trouble many people are having. I just purchased "Game6" "Hollow Man 2" and "BloodRayne" Let's see what these flicks are laced with.:P

I just started trying to backup when a stranger calls using clone dvd2 and any dvd, backing up main movie only. Quality is at 99%(very acceptable). I'll let you know the outcome soon.

@Lp531

Before you restore, run Crap Cleaner a free app from here:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

It did wonders for my pc. I was using adaware,Spybot and registry first aid too.

Backup of When A Stranger Calls in 19minutes 09seconds. Used AnyDVD & Clone DVD2. Burned at 4x. I will not sacrifice anything for quality. Only backed up main movie though who needs all that other shit.

Lp531, what verison of Nero are you using? try updating if your running an older verison ,ALSO INCD in the Nero package will cause problems so uninstall INCD and run a clean tool to remove it from your machine.

spysweeer has a free trial but after that its 20 or 30 bucks to buy i dont have the link off hand just google it
