You have to check if your P4 has EM64T support

Here are the system requirments

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/facts/sysreq.mspx\

but i am almost 100% sure you can't

CPUZ does not show if it is capable of 64 bit or not.

http://support.intel.com/support/processors/tools/piu/

Install that program. It will tell you if it is 64 bit. From what you say your processor specs are. I would say 99% chance that it is not 64 bit and cannot use XP64. I have a P4 3.0E GHz HT processor and mine does not support the 64 Bit.

Nope cant upgrade the processor via software/updates.. gotta buy a new processor.. trade in your old one, use whatever money you get for it to help offest the cost of the new one.thats what Im gunna do when I trade in my AMD Althon 64 3000+ for the AMD X2

Just a wild guess here, but I am not sure that Socket 478 supports any Intel 64bit CPUs. I believe you'll have to upgrade to Socket 775, which means a new motherboard as well.

Sadly, the reason that I am at this site is in search of 64-bit software. There's not a whole lot of it and most of my 32-bit stuff chokes on XP X86-64 PROFESSIONAL. I bought it because I thought most of my 32-bit apps would run (according to the hype) but this hasn't been the case (at least for me). Anyone know of a good MPEG 2 encoder similar to the old TMPEG 2.5 and where it might be purchased? cost is irrelevant if it works properly :-)
