I just bought a Maxtor 160gb hard drive from eBay (yesterday, no it hasn't arrived), and I was wondering, because I have the .elf for the latest HDLoader (I'm going to boot it through USB using Swap Magic), if I formatted my drive using HDLoader (considering it CAN be formatted by HDLoader), and put some games on it, would HDAdvance be able to use the drive after I got it? Right now I don't have the money, but I plan to get HDAdvance 3.0 (unless there is a .elf for this somewhere) because of easier DVD-9 copying and being able to use all (or most, minus 5-10GBs) of my hard drive.

Basically, I want to know if the way HDLoader formats the drive is readable by HDAdvance, and if HDAdvance will give me back those couple of GB's that HDLoader took b/c of the network adapter. And also if there is an .elf of HDAdvance 3.0 (NTSC). Thanks in advance.

HDLoader and HDAdvance are the same thing, so yes.

Now they don't have HDAdvance 3 on there (yet) - but I'd say just stick with HDLoader.

Right now, I boot HDLoader 0.7e through the Independence Exploit (btw is there any way to get this to work with a DVD such as a PS2 game?), and I also burned it to DVD (still haven't tested, plan to use to be able to use codes since Codebreaker can't boot CD's). I think I'll just use WinHIIP to transfer the rest on my games since it's faster, and I'll just make an .iso of it w/ DVD decryptor. BTW, how do I do that? Do I just pop the disc in and DVD Decryptor knows it's DVD-9 and burns both layers?

BTW, I tried booting the .elf of HDLoader using Swapmagic exactly like it said in the swapmagic3.com manual, but it didn't work, and I tried both methods. I tried it on a PNY Attache 256mb (which works with all of my other programs) USB Drive, first time formatted to FAT, second to FAT32, but SwapMagic froze as soon as it read the file. Help?

USB, put the HDD into your computer, LAN, you could even burn the files onto a CD then copy them over to your HDD using your PS2...

1st I installed a Memory Card Exploit using Independence Compiler and in the exploit I installed MYPS2
http://www.exploitstation.com/files/independencecompiler.rar
http://sksapps.com/media/myPS2_v03.rar

Booted up the exploit and ran MYPS2

My PS2 will setup a partition on the hard drive for itself...
from there inside MYPS2 I copied HDLOADER, PGEN and the MYPS2 Elf's onto the Hard Drive... (Funny thing is I copied the Elf's onto my MP3 Player Plugged the USB from my Player into the PS2 and transfered the files.. MY Cheap Thumb Drive Died.. But whatever works :) )

once I had that done I restarted the PS2 setup Elf Launcher to boot the elfs from the hard drive
went back into MYPS2 and deleted the original MYPS2 elf from the exploit.... So now my Exploit is only around 200k and only consists of the elf launcher and all my Elf's are on the Hard Drive...

So when I start up my PS2 Elf Launcher comes up and I press the correct button for what ever Elf I wish to Launch... PGEN HDLOADER or MYPS2

Can you use the same method to put roms (for emulators) onto the hard drive?

Yes I was able to put PGEN (Sega Genesis Emulator) & the roms for it on the HD by doing it this way...

Not All Emulators are HD Accessable
