Ok 3d.
You can use a portable HD enclosure to load games. It needs a host function and you can just swap files inbetween your hd and your Psp. The same way you do with your pc.
However, the new dax allows you to load it directly.
Which would eliminate the swapping. The possibilty to use a portable hdd was established a while ago.
Its loading it directly that would be nice.

hanipani - Is this through your PC or a external USB Harddrive?

I don't think you are getting where I am at Joeva.... I knew that ages ago, just wondering since it has a USB Host, couldn't they use the dax without having to install any drivers and that so it can already use the function and play the games directly

No cause it will still need a new driver. Just like the pc. You would need to access the hdd's system's files and give it a new driver.

Maybe you didn't install the DAX properly if you only get a black screen

Stagass, even though it says overwrite the DAXZISO .062 folder with the DAXZISO USB one, you just need to add the files from the USB one into the 0.62 one, which just means adding usbhostfs.prx and replacing the daxziso.ini

You should have the following files from the DAXZISO folder of the 0.62 release in the DAXZISO folder in the root of you MS -

BACKPIC (folder)
CONF (folder)
flash0 (folder)
flash1 (this folder and flash0 have your prx's from the 2.0 and 2.5 firmware in them)
backpic.bmp
backpic2.bmp
daxziso.ini
FUSEDCORE.bin
lexus.prx
loadorig_umem.prx
MPHGL.PBP
mphloader.prx
UMDEMU.PBP
runumd.pbp (you need to supply this yourself from runumd)

Then just copy usbhostfs.prx and overwrite the daxziso.ini with the one from the DAXZISO folder of the USB pack, into the 0.62 folder.

You should be up and running then. If it still doesn't work with this setup report back and we all can hopefully help you out and figure out what the problem is.

Its not the psp that needs the driver its the hdd enclosure. If you or someone could figure out how to take the driver alex provided and put it on a hdd, then sure. But without that it wont work directly

Ok hanipani,

To get the runumd.pbp, download runumd from here http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/404 then unzip it, then take the EBOOT.pbp from in the runumd_ver00101a1/PSP/GAME/runumd folder, copy it and rename it to runumd.pbp, then put that in your DAXZISO folder.

To get the flash0 and flash1 folder with the correct contents, use this guide http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=17418

It's a bit of a complex process, but take your time and re-read all the instructions asa you do it and you will be fine. It's worth it as you need this stuff to play 2.0+ isos.

Good luck!

ok i think there are some draw backs to this hdd exteral hard drive
first it is big (now ne ways) so it is a pain to carry..
second wouldnt it drain power from the psp by using it?

npdyna: I am daydreaming blissfully about the time when this will be availible using wi-fi. At that point my life will become truly complete, lol.
^^^^^
that would be so stupied...what your to lazy to go near your computer...you would rather stand next to your wifi router?

Well as it is a Playstation PORTABLE, it seems stupid to have to sit at my PC desk everytime I want to play an iso from my PC HDD with the USB connected to the top of my PSP, not letting me move out of my chair. I would much rather sit on my sofa in my lounge and have the game coming to my PSP over wi-fi, either that or get a 10m USB 2 cable, which is a gay idea. Or you could be on a plane or train, and have the HDD in your bag, AND NOT NEED A USB2 CABLE CONNECTING IT TO YOUR PSP, which would be annoying, and make you look a little low-tech. Maybe I care too much about image, lol.

Surely thats the whole point of wireless, to give you the freedom of not needing wires connecting everything? Should you have to sit right next to your router with a wire connected everytime you wanted to use a laptop, or would you get wireless and have the freedom to be anywhere in the house????? It's the exact same principle with a PSP isn't it? SO I say again, I am daydreaming blissfully about the time when this will be availible using wi-fi. At that point my life will become truly complete.

There is a dis advantage using Wifi, less games will work and it will lag as wifi can only stream quite slow unless you have a mega broaband speed.

Yeah, right now I guess it's only an idea, I am sure there are a lot of reasons why its not possible right now, like you said 3D with compatibility and speed, but it's nice to daydream. But will less games work? Beacuse it's not about using the wi-fi settings of the game, like when when you play the game online, its just changing the way you transfer the whole ISO from the HDD to PSP, so surely the number of games you could transfer and play would be the same whether you were using wi-fi or USB? But I guess you then couldnt't play the game online if the wi-fi was taken up transferring the ISO? I'm not too hot on this stuff so I will stop as I feel I am rambling.

this sort of similar the the hard drive whcih fots onto the ps2 (old model). Except the hardrive in this case is located on your computer...Would be great if they made a 32gb hard drive which could then clip onto your psp...

The reason it be less compatibility is it will have to transcode much more modules then when using USB.

This is semi portable.. I made it so you could carry your games on disc(CD/DVD).. Just insert the disc into any PC running Windows.. The menu will autorun giving you various options including serving the games you have copied on your CD/DVD to your PSP.

Hope it helps.. Cyberskunk :)
