I just dumped my first ISO file to a memory stick. I works great. Thanks to all!!!!!
I want to transfer more game ISO's from a UMD to the memory stick but I want to be careful not to upgrade my V1.5 firmware. If the PSP game is new and has a 2.XX firmware upgrade installed on it how do I avoid installing it on my PSP? Thanks

Umm. Don't hit the button that says upgrade or network update. That would my first suggestion.

Always becareful when you have a umd that is 2.0+. It will never just auto start. You will have to hit Yes 2 or 3 times. So just becareful and don't just press buttons to go through menus or screens.

When I insert a game UMD it auto starts. The PSP says "Now Loading" and a game demo starts. When the demo is over it says "Press Start Buttom"
1) Do I need to change the settings on my PSP so the UMD doesn't auto start to avoid the firmware update? IF so, how?
2) If I select the HOME button during the demo will I avoid the firmware update?
I think question number 2 was already answered above but I want to make sure.
Thanks

The demo doesnt need to update, look this is what happens when you need to update:
1)You turn on your psp
2)It says to play this game you need to update
So theres no way it will automatically update itself..

With http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/77 can I play a game directly from a UMD that requires 2.xx Firmware?
There are no TXT or DOC files so I'm not sure how to use or install it. The NFO file is corrupt.
Thanks

lol, the best ones are the thread where Joeva or Eternalis lays out exactly what people ask for step by step, with links, guides, everything, but as it sometimes complicated for newbies to understand, instead of trying to just figure it out or ask sensible questions like we all did, you get -
"why can't you just HELP me? I just want Syphon Filter to run on my PSP, I have a 32mb MS, tried fastloader and searched and everything. Why won't you just HElP me. Post back soon, I'm getting ANNOYED!???!?!
It's like, how have they NOT helped you? Get a grip and use the search function, and trial and error.

like i keep sayin we need to all tell the mods at once to remove some of those faqs like the read here about firmware and stuff, cause they are taking space, and no one reads them. we don't even link noobs to them. once we do that they will see there is more space and i think they will sticky more threads.

Joeva:
I read several posts and many explained how to transfer from a UMD to a memory stick and how to play new 2.xx FW games on a 1.5 FW PSP. For that I thank all of you.
I was unable, however, to find a post that mentioned anything about the possibility of inadvertently upgrade your firmware.

Thats cause you cant. You have to hit yes for the upgrade. It will never just auto update your psp.
