Just got back from Wal-Mart and they had a ton of 50pk. Maxell cakeboxes all on sale for $15. The -r's will code out as CMC (YUK, new packaging, straight and smooth at bottom of package,they are murder to open but who cares about CMC! The +r's code out as Ritek-R03-02 and this old packaging has a purple wrapper and the bottom is slightly flared out. The CMC's appear to be in the new packaging. Anybody know about the R03-02 code? Seems to be an older version.

I got these at Wal Mart. They're the 15 pk.

JVC- Wallyworlds seem to be closing out a lot of the maxell media @ least near where I live ! was able to pick up 3 spindles 50ct. of the maxell 8x DVD+R's MIJ's locally ! They also have the High grades with Scratchguard ? but waiting to see if the price drops below .60 ea, ( 5 packs jewel boxes) It seems like to me that walmart is moving to the smaller amount packs of media @ higher prices ! They had 2 50ct. spindles of Maxell 8X DVD+R's left yesterday ( Taiwan) marked down twice from $24.99 to $18.00 then to $15.00 So I'm going to check them out again tommorow to see if the price drops again ! At $10.00-$12.00 a cakebox I maight be interested if so hopefully they'll be riteks and not CMC Yech!!! Good luck & happy shopping!@

All Ritek media is grade A high quality media...so you've got good media.

I just won't buy the ones made in Taiwan. If they don't have any Made in Japan, I go somewhere else, or wait.

I've burned a ton of Ritek-R03 media. All from maxell +8x and Office Depot +8x and they performed identical to any of my taiyo yuden/hitachi maxells/and verbatim.

Top notch stuff.They're ok,but $15 is still a little high for Ritek-R03 media.If you locate the Japanese spindles,they will reveal Hitachi made maxells-same exact price. The taiwanese dash maxells are the ones to be cautious of. Cmags are getting around.

$15 a spindle is decent for Ritek-R03.That's 30 cents each.
I use to get the Office Depot +8x for 20-25 cents each. I haven't seen their +8x brand name media on sale for a while.Maxell +8x media is very good,no matter if they are from japan or taiwan. Very safe either way. No so for the dash maxells.You got cmags/hitachi/and ritek making the same exact Maxell dash 8x goldtops.

I just went to the Walmart 1 town away and they didn't have crap on clearance,except of 3 pk of sony dash-and they looked like 4x speed.Still $22 for 50 pks of maxell.

I did get some Full hub inkjet printable maxells at another walmart last weekend- $10 for 25 which is very cheap for full hub white inkjet printable in the plus format.

My printable Maxells from Wal Mart were either $10.88 or $11.88 for a 15 pk. Not too bad, but not great!

If you got a Dollar General store,some of them had the Imation full hub inkjet printable cd-rs. $6 for a 30 pk. You might get lucky?

saugmon- Checked nearest walmart this AM & they had the 2 50ct. tubs of Maxell ( taiwan ) still Reduced LOL! $ 15.00 interstingly enough the several 30 ct. tubs of Imation DVD-R's that they had marked down to $6.00 have sold ( But not too me !) I figure if I need media made in Taiwan for $15.00 ea. spindle I may just as well go to BestBuy for some verbatims ! Walmart still had the scratchguard /japan maxells for $3.00 per 5 pk. But I think .60 ea. is still a little high even with a jewel case ! Just cheap I guess But if they drop the price to $2.00 I might just snap them up still a little expensive compared to weekend sale prices but Their Japanese so should be really good ! Feel sorry for them people that bought the IMations though ! Obviously not Afterdawners ! Oh well once bitten twice shy as they say ! Trying to talk myself into or out of a 19" LCD monitor for fathers day ! I don't game just internet & Dvd'ing ect. Newegg seems to have a good deal on the ACERs They also have a Monitor Brand called Hanns G which I have seen also at Tigerdirect But otherwise know nothing about !
