im new to this and i would like some opinions on media. ive got hp dvd-r and received a media error on copy2dvd. any input?

What is the make/model and current fw of your burner? HP disks can code out as any number of mfr. You can dl DVDIdentifier which will give you the id code and mfr of the disk. Get it here it is free

Just what were you trying to burn, did you use other programs and then use CopyToDVD as this program will only burn the correct size file.

will check on media info. trying to copy a movie of my sons as practice . i used dvdshrink first

You can also go into My Computer/Program Files/VSO/CopytoDVD/C2CD Text Log file and see what that log reads about this burn, it will give you the make/model and current fw of the burner, it will be listed as device writer. CopyToDVD keeps pretty good logs.
