Before I try this I want to be sure that I understand all the posts that I have read.

I have three programs loaded on my memory stick: (FW 1.5)
1. Fastloader
2. UMD Emulator
3. MPH 2.0 Game loader

If I have a game that is on the compatibility list but has a FW 2.XX requirement Is this is what I have to do to play it off the memory stick?

1) Use Fastloader to dump the ISO to the memory stick
2) Use UMD Emulator (or Fast loader) to run the ISO.
3) If the game needs a newer firmware than 1.5, select "System Menu"
under ISO Emulation Mode in UMD Emulator.
4) Then Select MPH Game Loader from the Menu.

Is this correct or am I missing something?

My concern is that I don't update my firmware or turn my PSP into a brick

You can't brick your PSP using those programs and as long as you use the ISOs and not the actually UMDs you can't update to a different version.

What game are you trying to run as different games require different methods or patches to allow them to work on 1.5.

But If I dump the ISO with fastloader, I will be using a UMD.

That's alright. There's no chance of you updating as long as you're just running fastloader to dump the ISO.
