I'm from malaysia n m'sia sold alot of cheap pirated dvd. I reli dun understand how they're able to compress 10 episodes in 1 single dvd-r. Furthermore, da quality is very smooth. Length of 1 episode is about 45-55mins. i tried to make the same, i could oni push in with dvdshrink n could fit oni 4 episodes. Anyone can tell me, how they do it n wat program did they use?

They probably use very hign end video encoders to do it. DVD Shrink uses a very quick unsophisticated method of removing video content to reduce the size of the resulting video (i.e. compression). High quality sophisticated encoders cost thousands of dollars and aren't free like DVD Shrink. Better results when higher compression levels are required can be obtained using DVD-ReBuilder and the Cinema Craft Encoder (CCE), but these results will still be nowhere near what other professional encoders are capable of doing.

No one can tell you what programs they used , but could merely speculate.

Try using ConvertXtoDVD for this type of project would be a suggestion from me , it tends to keep output fairly small (and if set to best quality you will get decent enough video quality etc .. although it will take ages doing so - like any encoder)

for got about that one herbsman and thats my main encoder, when i saw he wanted better compression and to get more on the disc sorenson squeeze was my 1st thought as this does a very good job with divx/avi or mpeg files and retains the quality. There was a free version a while ago but it might take some digging to get it, however the recent ones do have trials attached for you to try and $300 dollars is relatively cheap for software of this calibre.

@ herbsman: heard from sam these days, havent seen her in the forums of late, like 6 months or so(nice to catch up with the aussie girl now and again)

@ guyrus:
I actually haven't spoken to Sam for absolutely ages , last time I did [on MSN] she seemed very happy :-)

Icefligz : At question of subtitles & which software to use .. I personally use DVD-Lab Pro for such projects (last one I did was Kung Fu Sweetheart).
