does anyone know if a honda odyssey can handle a connection of a ps2 and a 13" tv? (is it too much power?)

An inverter made for cars is needed and should prevent any power problems. However, I wouldn't run it for very long without the engine running. The extra power load on a battery could cause it to wear out faster and decrease the life of it, make sure it's in good condition. A second or larger altenator and/or a second battery might also be a good idea.

I'm not too sure on this but an LCD might consume less power also.

you should have no problem. But like stated above i would not run it for to many hours without running the engine. I know i have run mine for an hour or so on my car no problem.

You will need a few things.
1. is the power converter, something like this although i would search around for a good one as this one looks cheap.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7713888&type=produc...
mine has 2 plugs and looks like a car stereo amp. Plugs to the ciggy lighter then you plug the TV and PS2 into it.

2. i would go with an LCD screen as it will give you better results while using less power. you can have one installed that drops down from the roof like this. Although they are expensive.

3. and if you really want to go high tech then buy what is called an FM Modulator. This will run the PS2 audio through your cars audio system giving you great sound. a very cheap one like this

or one of more quality like this

Hey, I didn't think of an FM modulator but, it's a great idea. Also, it would be possible to hard wire the inverter, so that plugging it into the lighter socket isn't necessary; I know some cars don't even come with them any more, and you can put it any where it's convienient.

you can.. best place is in the fuse box.. most cars have them by the battery and down by the drivers foot in the car.
i would advise plugging it into the fuse box with maybe a 15amp fuse..
also for safty i would advise testing the spot your putting the fuse that it stops giving power after the car is shut off..
this way if you forget to turn it off (and it will happen) you dont kill your battery and have to call off work because of it.

never play your ps2 and tv/lcd while the car is off.. unless you have 1 extra battery + then also get an energy cap/battery cap.. a good one will shut off power once its drained to much power.
(if you put the battery in the car you MUST use a gell cell and not a regular battery, the unsealed batterys put off a deadly gas.. and im sure you dont feel like dieing after your install)

An inline fuse for a stereo amp would also work, there might be a fuse inside of the lighter jack and that would tell you the amp rating needed. Battery relocation kits can be found through most aftermarket auto parts sellers. Gell cell batteries are spendy, a decent sealed battery should be fine as long as it's in a place that isn't exposed to too much moisture, or is bounced around.

well, i'm not too sure about all the above. But i can tell you i have played it with the car off for an hour no problem. And it is a regular car battery and nothing special like a gel cel. They are better no doubt, but not needed.

and as far as i know the ciggy light will not be on when the car is not on so it should shut off once you turn it from the aux. position to off. I can not remember if mine did or not.

just a question ... are you trying to put the ps2 in the car for the "cool thing to do" or are you doing it for a trip with friends and all

well then all i can say is that i hope you do not have a slim PSTwo.
Outside in the heat it will last about a half hour before you start having problems. The older versions should be ok if kept out of sunlight, but heat and PS2's just do not go together well.

I took my slimline to PA last year and went to a friends house, he had not AC, and the thing started acting up after a short time. We had to stick a house fan in front of it to blow in the vents and keep it cool just so it would load the games without pressing reset 12 times.

thats weird.. im from PA south of Pitt
moved to Florida about 3 or 4 years ago and have a slim ps2.. it sits in the sun down here all the time and runs better then my fat ps2 any day.. even load times are faster for games.

the slim ps2 also has a fan inside on the heatsink.. maybe your ps2 was just hella dusty inside

I live my life one warez download at a time.
