i have these office depot dvd+rs which i really like. their media code is ritek p16 or something like that. anyway, i've tried the verbatim dvd+r DL and i don't like them. the picture quality to me seems darker than it's supposed to be. so i found a sale on ritek ridata DL whose media code is ritekD01. my question is will i like the ridata ones if i like the office depot and also are the ridata ones any good?

I would stay away from ritek and ridata crap comes to mind, I suggest using Taiyo yuden discs. Verbatim dual layer discs are also great try verbatim dual layer (4x) dvd-r media code MKM01RD30. I find them to be excellent.

What is the media code of the verbatim disc that you did not like?

The problem could be the way you burnt the movie.

Ritek +r Dl is probably the best DL media out there. Ritek DL media is below them, quality wise.

Did you try the same movie with both single layer and dual layer?Maybe even a single layer RW disc,so you can erase it and use it again?

Programs that put out a good single layer backup, don't necessarily work well with DL backups.Nero6 is one of them.

What programs are you using?

Office depot is one of the few store's brand name media that I'd consider buying. Their 8x media is all ritek, the +16x are either Ricohjpn-R03-very good, or the Ritek- P-16-I have not tested.

Didn't you mean to say "verbatim +r DL is probably the best DL media out there. Ritek DL media is below them, quality wise"?

movies,

Verbatim DL media is without a doubt the best DL media on the market. I am glad that you have such good results with ritek media but to say it is better than verbatim or taiyo yuden is not accurate. So it works great for you. That's all good and well but it is still class B media whereas verbatim and taiyo yuden are class A and most, and I repeat most, will have better performance with the later two.

I suggest you take your own advice.

Get your facts right, Ritek and Ridata do not come close to Verbatim and Taiyo yuden media they are simply the best media you can get.

Next you will be saying Traxdata is good quality media too. LMAO

If you are buying DL discs there is no need to run it through shrink you can get a 1:1 copy just by using DVD Decrypter.

If you want to get rid of extras/menus I suggest running it through VoBblanker first then DVD Decrypter. That way you will loose no quality at all. :)

My bad mort, I meant Verbatim DL media is the finest. Big typo!

DL backups:

Rip using DVD Decrypter Mode ISO read. Mode ISO write to burn the MDS files.

Or rip using dvd decrypter's Mode ISO read, and burn the MDS files with IMGburn.

Much quicker, and effective than DVD Shrink!

As i've stated before i've the world famous verbatim's & like i said befoe they would not play properly in all of my friend's dvd players...Ritek media played flawlessly..just because some website says media is 1st class doesnt mean anything to me i use what works..to be honest i've seen princo media that performed better than verbatim's...i see a lot of those floating around my area..i just tell the truth if it hurts then so be it.

If Ritek works for you great, but it is not the best media available ask anyone here at AD or cdfreaks and everyone will tell you to stay away from Ritek/Ridata and traxdata media to name a few.

Ritek use to make good quality media but over the last few years the quality has slipped dramitically.

I gave a truthfull answer to dent18 like I do in all my posts here at AD.

I meant no offence to anyone who uses that media as everyone has there own preference, I was just stating a fact.

P.S. I think I speak for all people here that we do not listen to what other websites say, we go on by our own experiences.

All the best,

Pazz

i think with the office depot ones (ritek p16)that i have the picture looks softer and the verbatims look bold and dark but i think it's probably just me. i'm probably just accustomed to the office depot ones since they've been the only media i've used. but i'm going to try the voblanker route with the few remaining verbatim dl discs i have and see if it helps. thx

a few facts for you.
RITEK own brand names..RITEK..RIDATA and TRAXDATA, are all grade AAA top quality guaranteed RITEK media.
i have burned many 1000 R04...R05...R03 and 50 D01-002, absolutely faultless.
i have also used several 100 Verbatim which are just about on a par with my Ritek. infact my Ritek R03 have a better scan than the new 16x Verb.

Yea thats what i'm trying to tell him i hate he has a bad experience with them because Ritek ..to me is the absolute best media there is...i know its to each is own but i hate when people downgrade Ritek media when i've burned over 1000 of them...i watched a movie last night that was made 2yrs ago on a RitekG05....plays all the way thru on my dvd player that i bought that supposedly will only play DVD+R..... the Ritek DVD-R had no problems playing all the way thru...

@ gurnard and Movies

Hello :)

Yes I have tried Ritek and that is why I dont like them hence my advice.

What people have to understand is that when a person posts a reply on a forum thay will receive an answer from someone who has had experience with the OP question.

I mentioned CDFreaks because alot of people ask how good is Ritek media and the response people give is that they are rubbish (to many coasters, bad burns, skipping, poor quality. One thing is that the people at cdfreaks always use Nero cdspeed to check the quality of media. so when cdspeed gives a low score thay properbly see that as a crap media.

You are always going to find an argument to every case for example: Some people prefer Nikon to Canon, mcdonalds to burger king Verbatim to Ritek etc...etc...

As Ritek works for you guys great I dont have a problem with that I replied by going on my own experience with Ritek, what people have to remember is we all(might) use different DVD-RW drives not to mention different FW. Mine are BenQ 1640,50,55 and a LG4167B super multi so we will get different burn quality with different media.

Cheers

Pazzini :)
