those prices are way out there, are you in the US?
You can buy a whole premodded system for $265
You can get a great DVD burner at Newegg.com for $40

This is an OEM drive which means it is without a box and the lightscribe software. It does have a copy of Nero 6. But you can download lightscribe software for free if you decide you want to buy lightscribe discs ($1 each for Verbatim 8X DVD+R) and burn them.

Modchip+Installation (DMS4 Lite+Install)=$149
Chip $50, Install at teammodders.com i think is $35 and you pay for shipping which is about $15 each way so $115.00 total

DVD-Rs=$9 for a decent type of media
usually about $20 for a 50 pack. Taiyo Yudens for 16.50 a 50 pack (.33 cents each-shipped) http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-dvd-r-media.html

DVD Burner=$100-400 Not sure where you got that but see the link above. You can get a top of the line burner in the retail pack for $50 at Newegg.com(BenQ 1655)

Overheat Protection=$10 now that is about the only correct price

Adding up to an agonizing total of: $260 OR $558
so i total out at $181.50 which is still a bit of money but a lot cheaper than you have here.
