Hi guys i have a rather early version of the PS2 which doesn't feature the in built infa red reciever near the power/reset and eject buttons on the Ps2's front. I bought a remote (official Sony) not realising that my unit didn't feature the reciever, and i'm stuck with it and really can't be bothered (or afford) to splurge on an earlier Sony remote that comes with the reciever...

Is there any way i can get the remote to work via a mod? Or somehow if i get hold of the reciever that came with the old remote version, would that work in conjunction with the remote i have? Cash Convertors are only offering 10 bucks (Australian) for the thing and I'm pissed off lol!! I figure i might as well keep the remote and mess with my brothers head when he is watching DVD's on his newer PS2 cos thats worth more than 10 bucks to me haha!

well i dont know a lot about those remotes but i do know that if you have a PSP that you use you can d/l a program that u install on your memory card for the psp and it can become a remote that will work for your ps2 or any other remote that u need

but this is only if the psp ... have no idea about the actual remotes ... sorry if this wasn't for your liking

No worries mate, thanks for the feedback. Wish i could do the same thing with my phone... Does anyone know if you can download apps to Sony Ericson phones for remote control functionality... heard rumours but not sure if they're true...
Do you own a PSP B1grich - they seem like a lot of cash for technology that gets outdated so quick, they worth the money?

had one ... v1.5 for the d/l of games but its really not worth the 300 i paid for ... i got rid of it for 150 b/c i didn't want it anymore, the games on that little screen is annoying ... i have a ipod video so i don't care about watching video and music so not worth it unless you are on the go all the time i would buy it but ps2 >>>>>>>> psp

Yeah fair enough. I don't have that kinda cash to spare on something like that at the moment and besides, the money going towards the PSP - basically of PS2/GC/Xbox generation technology - could get a true next gen console like the PS3/Wii/360!! Ya can't play Oblivion on a PSP :P
